Athletic Hour

You can say it’s easy all you want, but when coaches aren’t PE teachers it takes them out of another class you need them to teach.
But it is easy. If schools can get creative and find ways to flex schedules for tech/trade schools, advisory, interventions, CWC pullouts, and everything else, they can figure this out. It’s strange how it existed for decades and suddenly became too difficult. Wanna make it easy? 30-45 min “advisory” at the end of the day. Done.

Honest questions... We have Vo-Tech in the afternoon where kids have to travel 30 minutes. How do schools handle those students.

I have never been at a school that has athletic hour so do all sports/activities use this hour? What about if the coach or coaches are in a different building? What do those students do during athletic hour?

At the school I went to, yes all athletes used the hour. (there was off season training if your sport was not in season)... At my school ALL coaches worked at the high school building, so not sure how that would be done.
It acted as PE credits so athletes werent allowed to take any PE classes.

Carl Junction doesn't have an athletic hour but if you are a sophomore through a senior and don't have any grade below a B you don't have to go to the last hour of the day which is homeroom. Most athletes just go to practice and work individually.

I believe that Ozark is trying to add it in the near future. If Republic and Ozark add it, then Willard will be the only east school that does not have it. Unsure about Branson. But let's be real, Willard will never have anything that the other schools it competes with has...except a nice arena for basketball games.

Branson does not have it, unless it was recently added. I think Nixa is the only "EAST" school, that currently does.
