Is Aminu Mohammad at Greenwood the best high school basketball player ever in Springfield? What about all of southwest Missouri? I would say he is the best I have ever seen from a SW MO high school.

When you consider he is still a junior, it's pretty hard to argue with. He pretty much played one on five at the Blue and Gold and single handedly won a championship despite four opponents doing everything they could to stop him. Name another guy who scored all of his teams points in the half of a championship game ... There may be some Greenwood parents that don't want to hear any of that, but I that's the reality of it.

He's as complete a player as I've seen in SWMO at this age without question. He rebounds at an exceptionally high level, handles it, shoots it from distance, has a big time mid range game, scores in the post, and does it all while being the focus of every opponents defense.

I'm sure John Brown was great, but that was a different time. Basketball is this generations most popular and most played sport, kids are playing year round and traveling the country while doing so ... I think the sport overall is better than it was in the 1960s. I can't imagine there is anyone who would want to argue that.

Beyond that, he's the most highly recruited kid in SWMO, I can't name another legitimate five star kid from that area and I can't think of anyone who has experienced the kind of success he has on one of the major shoe circuits. He was among the EYBL 17Us top players as a 16U kid, which is pretty impressive. His numbers on that circuit this past summer were pretty impressive, averaging 17.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and shooting 57 percent from the field for Boo Williams.

For the know-it-alls who think he's a product of playing small school hoops, the Nike EYBL is about as tough as it gets. I would challenge anyone to go watch a session of that and then report back to me otherwise.

Different time , different place but how about David Combs? I would have liked to see him play.

Just wait. Supposedly after 2nd semester starts, Victory Naboya will be eligible to play for Greenwood. He’s a 6’9 transfer from St Johns in DC who already has at least one D1 offer who is also a Junior I believe and idk what his “star rating” is, but nonetheless could make the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions interesting.

He moved in the summer of 2018 from DC, different school than the Naboya kid. His older brother plays for Missouri State. His parents still live over in Africa and him and his guardian wanted to stay close to his brother.

The intelligentsia have crowned him, so why even bother with asking the question? When social media decides something, that's it...it's over! We don't have debates anymore, but arguments.

quite possibly.. There has been no one in recently memory that is as good.

South iron plays at greenwood on 1/11. Do they have a chance or is greenwood to much for them. Where will they play?

Greenwood has it on the schedule as a regular home game, so its likely to be in their gym. I have not seen South Iron play this year, but I would say it will be a long day.

Greenwood's new gym is under construction, but I guess the old/current one is still open for business.

One thing that is not mentioned very much about him is his ability to see the floor. He does pass the ball well. Does he do it all the time or a lot, no, but he still has a great feel for the game.

Question is what is the connection here with Naboya? How does he end up at the same school? Mohammad, will he stay or go after this season when his brother graduates?
