I saw Humble made all State. Odd to not get all district but make all state team. She deserved to be all district though.

How embarrassing is that for those who voted for all district?

I have never heard of this ever happening. Does anyone have any knowledge of any previous all state player not being all district?

It can happen. If you make the Final Four your coach is allowed to put in an extra player to be considered for all state even if they didn't make all district.

I guess before we all ride off into the sunset and leave this season behind. Did anyone get left off the All-State List?

I figured Aliya Grotjohn from Seneca would have made the Class 4 all state team over some of the others who made it, so that was a snub IMO.

I didn't get a chance to watch Willard play this season but Brielle Adamson could have made the Class 5 all state team based on what I've seen from her over the years.

I was surprised Helton from Miller was left of the list. She was all state the last 2 years. Her numbers were down a little because Miller changed the way they played. She was all state twice in volleyball. All Conference in Softball as well.

I would just say in a reply to my own post. If the state is divided into 4 quads if you will and each quad plays to get to state final 4 I might say the NW quad (District 13-16 Class 4) 3 of the 20 are from that Area. Not saying it should be even. Maybe Ashley Hall from Pius or Maybe Benton gets 2 and Kelsey Johnson gets a spot.

How does Jordan Speiser not make All State? Leading scorer in St. Louis area according to STL Today with 25 ppg on 49% form the field including 44% from 3 with 116 made?

Is this political nonsense cause she's a freshman or just a complete oversight?

STATS: 9.2 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 4 apg, 37.3% FG, 23% 3-pt FG
Those might be the worst stats for an all state player i have ever seen.

Ok, i'll bite, who's stats were those or did you not want to point out a player

I don't want to point out the player. She is a good player. I am just looking at the numbers. I have just never seen numbers like that get all state.

I can say that depending on where you see the numbers I know some are not right. The State Program I know the numbers were not accurate.

I noticed those too and chalked it up to - maybe the stats were inaccurate OR Surely we can agree that good players aren’t ALWAYS reflected on a stat sheet- especially when the team is solid all around and plays a tough schedule. Maybe TEAM success was more important- MAYBE big play plays-big moments arent always something that is statted…..🤷‍♂️

I am not saying she didn't deserve to be All State. I am just saying I have never seen numbers like that for an All State player.

Not saying she doesn’t deserve it? Don’t wanna name player? You already did by posting stats. You made it clear months ago that you watched “said player” play with her summer team the Redbirds. I assume that’s the same team that beat plenty of teams with D1 signees and beat several area college teams. From what I hear and the pro am games I watched, She is every bit an all stater and did more than her share to win games.

I'm pretty sure I know who the player is and yes, she deserved to be all state. You can't quantity with stats a player's heart and toughness and their defensive prowess/ability to cause turnovers.

I never said she didn't deserve to be All State. I am just saying AGAIN i have never seen an All Stater with numbers like that. Instead of taking it as a negative maybe look at it as a WOW she is so well thought of she can have those numbers and still be all-state.

Who the player is is irrelevant anyway. I was just looking at the numbers. Name 1 player in the last 30 years that made All-State with those numbers.

Who the player is in fact relevant bc knowing who the player is and the intangibles she brings, and how that helped their team win a lot of games, explains why she made all state. Plus knowing who said player's teammates were might explain why she didn't score more points.

If it was a player from some small school that went 11-16 then we'd be scratching our heads as to why someone with those numbers made all state.

Everybody wants to argue that she deserved to make All State. I'm sure she did. My original post was that those were the lowest numbers i have seen an all-state player have. Until somebody can prove me wrong by coming up with an all-state player with worse numbers then my original observation is CORRECT. I didn't bring this up to bash a player. I brought it up to see if there were any other examples of a player with not great stats getting All-State.

I wouldn’t know- I personally don’t make a habit of looking up players stats… I think stats can be overrated. That particular player’s stats just happened to be posted in another forum where I saw them. So I couldn't personally answer your supposed question-

To even begin this conversation though, and list the stats would appear that you were calling into question the fact that she was an All State selection. My 2 cents is that she ABSOLUTELY deserved All State and lead her team well.

Well it’s hard to find stats on these players. Unless they are on max preps, in a program like the one they put out for the final four, or otherwise reported somewhere, its tough. We’d be lucky to know the stats for even 20% of the all state players. And even tougher to find stats on past all state players.

I will say that there was an all state player two years ago with pretty pedestrian stats. Not gonna name her but she played for a good team towards the middle of the state and wasn’t even the best player on her own team.

Emma Compton deserved to be All State. Every team they played prepped to stop her penetration first. She makes them go. Her intensity fueled their defense success.
Move on!
LakeBalls change your name to JC.

I remember hearing a few years ago a coach writing mshaa complaining that his star got left off of all state team. The next year was probly the worst year of her high school career stat wise .She was the 3rd leading scorer on her team but she made all state.

All State: 20 players selected. Many players worthy of the honor get left off every year. Variables like strength of schedule, winning, how far they go in post season, do coaches actually nominate player, other coaches making decisions based on what they have seen personally from a player....There will always be the fringe players that either get left out or put on All State team. I personally would like to see them go back to 15 1st teamers and 15 second teamers. That gives you additional 10 players to receive recognition without watering it down. But, there is always going to be the case is that too many?

And some not as worthy get on. It's just a fact of life and it's why it really doesn't merit that much acclaim.

To say it doesn't hold any merit is just false. Otherwise it wouldn't be talked about on here every year. It does matter to the players that make it and to the players that don't, that should have.

If you expand there numbers it doesn't mean as much. There will always be someone that some people think were "left out."

30 All State players out of 100's - 1000's of players in each class....I still think it holds merit

Yeah. I think if you do the math as compared too many other sports, 20 per class is actually pretty low.
