when is media all-state announced?

I can't speak for the modern day Missouri Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association (I do wish I were still a member) ... between 1997-2004 the association met the Sunday morning after the state football championships concluded and selected the all-state teams. Usually was released a week later as long as representatives from each part of the state were present. I seem to recall a year, maybe two were the preps beat guy from Cape Girardeau who had all of the nominees for Southeast Missouri missed the meeting and the chairman made sure to get with him later to make sure that part of the state was included.

Traditionally KC Star had its preps guy (Derek Samson at that time, now managing editor with Rivals.com), same with the St. Louis Post Dispatch, Tom Rackers from Jeff City Tribune was the chairman, Russ "Big Game" Baer from the Columbia Tribune, Joe Kress and Kyle Neddenreip from the Springfield News-Leader, Anvil and I from the Joplin Globe and sometimes Kirksville and Lebanon would have a guy there. I can't recall the prep guy at Cape Girardeau either.

But the goal was usually to have sent out statewide the Tuesday the weekend after the state championships concluded -- in other words today -- in order for it to be printed in the Wednesday morning editions. This could have changed over the years.

Not sure if this helps you out at all
The other classes might be sprinkled somewhere around this website

That’s the coaches association all-state picks. The media also has their list but I guess it hasn’t come out yet.

@Veer2Eternity ... Cody Thorn just sent me a text and said the Missouri Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association did not select an all-state team last year, is that correct?

1. I dont believe the MSSA exists any longer
2. They haven't done an all state team for at least 3 years.
I assumed it did ... because the weekly football rankings this fall had a paragraph at the top that read:

Statewide high school football rankings, as compiled by a 9-member panel of sportswriters and broadcasters. First-place votes in parenthesis. Panel is made up of Dion Clisso, PrepsKC; Cole Young, PrepsKC; Tom Rackers, Jefferson City News-Tribune; Chris Parker, Ozone Sports; Joe Andrews, Warrensburg Star-Journal; Anthony Crane, KQ2 St. Joseph; J.B. Connoley, NEMOPressbox.com; Cole Lee, semoball.com; Paul Halfacre, St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Perhaps this group just does it unto themselves and the association no longer exists. I had no idea.

PrepsKC runs the weekly media polls. So technically it is what Craig Hull stated. This is not sponsored or run by the association but instead the group led by PrepsKC which puts it together. Same goes for the weekly coaches poll (not the state association sponsored) but run by Missouri Scoop. The All State Team is done by the Coaches Association and is voted by members who attend the yearly conference at the LOZ which was over a week ago.

Reactions: Craig Hull
There was an all-district media team so I assumed there would be an all-state media team
