You say that... realizing that we're in a thread whose title implies 8 seeds beating 1 seeds... hellooooooo
Once. Riverview Gardens beat Clayton? Last year. And then lost to St. Dominic 9-6 in OT in the district semi..
I really hate those games. I would have 7-8 play a 10th game to end their season. and have 1-6,2-5 and 3-4 play with the winner of 1-6 getting a bye the second week and advance to the district title game.
I've recommended something somewhat similar in the past. I agree with the 7/8 matchup to end the season - probably a winnable game for either but neither deserves a shot at the real postseason tourney.
I'd give 1 and 2 a tenth week bye as a reward. Week 10 would feature 3/6 and 4/5, a pair of games that would be competitive most likely with winners moving on to week 11 to meet top two seeds.
Had nothing to do with the #1 or a prediction.
Was simply saying that over the years I personally have never seen a good LN football team.
Perhaps I am missing something?
