810 varsity top 25

Not a rankings person (Maxpreps tries this too and they are much more laughable if you have studied anything to date) but interesting read.

Saw the Smithville and scratched my head a bit, Think BSS and Harrisonville may be a bit high based on the jamboree. Should shake up pretty quickly after week 1.

Harrisonville, again this year, will be tested in a major way going over to the Lou to play Dr. Fred and MICDS then facing what many feel will be a serious C3 contender in Maryville (again supposing they will be C3). Smithville may not look the part early but watch them come November. That JV was very good and they have amazing depth for their town size.

Funny they have Ray-Pec slightly ahead of Kearney, who clearly dominated RP in every way Friday. (No, the TE and running back would not make a difference, or stop the TDs K was scoring at will.)

Ray Pec-Rock should be the second best matchup in the KC metro this opening week. I don't think the Panthers showed much at all given what many of us think Rock will be in 2023.

Maxpreps/Calpreps pre-season ratings are useless. They say as much on Calpreps, where they do not even make game predictions until about Week 5. Then the accuracy is pretty damned good.

Any practices being rescheduled or canceled due to the heat index?

Just got notice my son's middle school practice was canceled for today.

I know it does not matter once the season starts, but is HVille just getting votes because they are a great program or do they actually have expectations this season? They should be given the benefit of the doubt, but they have been underwhelming the past few years.

Very hard to say. Just pointing out 0-2 is a very real possibility. Now if they win 1-2 of those the conversations change FAST..............

Defensive side of the ball is where the issues, in my distant opinion, have been down that way. Shore that up they could indeed return to the C4 fold. I like those guys would love to see that happen!

I think the even bigger games will be Pleasant Hill and Odessa. Prior to 2017 they were not used to losing to either of those teams. They’ve lost their last two to PHill and haven’t beaten Odessa in 5 seasons- and have mostly not been competitive with them.

I've watched a number of these either live or replay and agree especially the "Cass County Rivalry" with PH.

Didn't see much of the Blue Springs South jamboree except the 40-yard and 29-yard passing TDs they laid on Smithville. What else happened there? Liberty? Harrisonville?
QB battle for BSS looks unsolved and that in class 6 is typically a recipe for disaster, especially if you are speeding things up again this year.
