The 8 man football poll also has about two handfuls of teams in one general area of the state.

I understand that, but even the person in NE Missouri that votes pays enough attention to the teams on the western side of the state to make an informed decison. My point is that the media is going to make sure they take the time to follow the teams assigned to them. The coaches are not (and they should not).

I think that a media poll would be a better option as well. The sports writers are paid to cover these teams as a profession and would have the time to make informed decisions. I also think they would like the opportunity if given IMO.

I agree with that wholly...I just don't think a media member in Sikeston is going to pay attention to what's going on in the GRC. But I think the media poll is far more accurate than the coach's poll for the reasons you mentioned.

The rankings are just so people have something to talk about, In the end, it all comes down to who is still playing in March...

Class 4 is an odd collection of teams but after the Christmas games here's what I think

Westminster
Central Park Hills
Mount Vernon
Boonville
Fatima
Hollister
Chillicothe
Central New Madrid
Macon
Eldorado Springs

Maryville St. James Cameron Willow Springs all in the hunt

Class 4 Westminster is 9-1 with a 4 point loss to #1 Class 6 Incarnate Word Academy. Westminster will be the class 4 state champions (remember this in March).

If they only lost to IWA by four I think you're probably right, they'll be state champs.

They also struggled to beat a 3-9 Viz team. Not disagreeing with you on the prediction and I put them at #1 for that reason but they are not heads above the rest of class 4 in my opinion.
