Thank you, pollsters for giving us something to talk about! Seriously, thank you!

Class 1:

In my opinion, the championship is going to run through Mound City in Class 1 or South Iron (who I haven't seen, but know have been on the cusp the past 3 years). If you haven't got a chance to Mound City, watch them...here:
(Jump to the 3rd quarter to get to the good stuff...there are probably 4-5 dunks by MC guards)...second half starts at 33 minutes or so...and wait a couple possessions.) Osburn is an Isaac Haney caliber scorer, and Poppa is too, but long and gets WAY up. Had multiple jams.

Mound City has two guards that are long, bouncy and can shoot the lights out. Beat Class 4 Maryville by 25..top two scorers combined for over 60 points after scoring a calm 85..and they went out with about 5 minutes to play.

Winston is very good, but it is also well known that their league is usually not nearly as deep as the 275 or GRC, so they will likely have a tremendous record heading into the playoffs (I think they will likely run the table). But, they are not in the same neighborhood as Mound City at this time, unless the old ball coach for the Redbirds holds the ball after scoring a couple early buckets....

MC: 2 outstanding scorers and many very good supporting players that can knock down the open shot. You cannot shut both dudes down, and if you help too much, they will find an open guy. Poppa guarded Maryville's 6'9" in the post and caused the big guy trouble, so their lack of a lot of size shouldn't be an issue. I think both players had double figures in the third quarter in the Maryville Game.

I know I sound like a fan boy, but this team is extremely special. Maryville is a good team this year, and will likely challenge or be in the top tier of the MEC and Mound City was up only 4 at half but opened the floodgates in the second half.

I am not as much into the C1 basketball scene anymore, but Northwest Missouri lost some teams to Class 2 that will make it not as deep.

D 16: Platte Valley guys are quite a bit down after losing Farnan and Merrigan (however, their girls though are as dominant as the MC boys are in the area...beat a top 5 caliber Maryville Girls team who is in Class 4). The PV boys still have a chance to be good toward the end of they year (and can't factor out the history Mound City has with Jefferson/Platte Valley) Mound City: Cream of the crop in the region maybe in classes 1-3 (and 4 maybe?),
West Nodaway has quickness and scorers but still working out some things and give up a lot of points to teams that usually don't score too much...lost handily to Platte Valley in their first matchup. NE Nodaway also has some nice wins, but likely a 3 or 4 seed in D16.

District 15 in Class 1 is very tough...Winston will likely be the 1 seed, but will have to beat Stanberry (size and strength), Worth County...quick guards with range, Pattonsburg..who will likely challenge for the 1 seed in the district as well. Look for the Pattonsburg v. Stanberry Matchup in the GRC and the Winston/Pattonsburg matchups to determine that seeding. St. Joseph Christian could also be a team that gets a lot better by the end of the year and gets in the mix...

I cannot speak at all to the other regions. With the pond shrinking with new classifications. If St. Elizabeth still has size and some remnants from the past two years, I'd put them toward the top still too.

I think South Iron will play 5-6 teams better than Maryville this year. I've seen them and they are very talented. They will be ready for Mound City and will take no one for granted. It should be an outstanding tournament this year, hopefully they get to play it out with no interruptions from Covid.

No argument with South Iron being #1, but Mound City should be ahead of Winston in Class 1. Also, in Class 2, Princeton is too high at #2 and North Andrew and Gallatin should both be getting some votes if not Top 10. I also think Worth County should get some consideration in Class 1.
