2016-2017 Basketball Season

Should be interesting. Class 1 is gonna be fun to watch this year though. With Stanberry moving to Class 2 it will be interesting to see who is going to win it. Walnut Grove may be the favorite though.

I do not think that Walnut Grove will even make it out of their district this year. With Greenfield moving down to Class 1, I think they are going to give Walnut Grove a run for their money

Don't forget about North Andrew or Winston.

Curious to see if Walnut Grove even gets out of their district. Definitely don't think they're the favorite. As for top teams, North Andrew will be really good and Worth County should be solid as well.

Okay didn't know about Greenfield. We will find out I guess soon enough. North Andrew will prolly be solid this year. I don't know about Winston though.

No predictions here, but just remember that Scott County Central returns to class 1 this year.

Every coach I've talked to in my area has raved about Licking ... their only three losses this summer were to Nixa, Willard and Republic.

Mt. Grove, MTVBT Liberty and Licking are all in the same district, so there's that. ...

My Class 1 (without seeing or knowing much from this year, and not knowing anything about greenfield, so I'll take the word of others they are top 10)...also looking off of maxpreps/mshsaa bracket from last season...

1. Glasgow
2. Advance
3. SCC
4. Winston
5. North Andrew
6. Walnut Grove
7. Greenfield
8. School of the Ozarks
9. Worth County
"Also receiving votes": Drexel, Novinger, Weaubleau, Braymer, Jefferson, Hermitage, Mercer.

I also really don't know who returned from most of the schools on the "also receiving votes" so this could definitely vary. Obviously not much more than a guess.

For what its worth School of the Ozarks is class 2

St. Elizabeth has a group of 9th graders that can play and contribute this year as well as the next 3 after that. They will be a sleeper

Knowing that Greenville or Walnut Grove is in that quarter, I wouldn't be looking for a group of freshman to overtake either of those two...or if they are in the SE quarter, SCC or Advance will be tough.

*Greenfield

St. Elizabeth wouldn't play any of those teams until the Final 4/State Championship, not the quarterfinals. Glasgow and Tuscumbia will be tough in their district, though.

Greenfield returns 4 starters and 7-8 letterman that finished 14-11 last year, 8-2 down the stretch and lost by single digits to an undefeated Rich Hill team in Class 2. Greenfield and Walnut Grove play early in December.

Walnut Grove will still be tough and disciplined I think, but mostly they will live and die by creating transition points and shooting 3's. As thomazin goes, so they will go. (which usually works out pretty well for them)

Not having the Meinders kid at the point will hurt them. Gilkey is solid, but not the basketball player that Meinders was. Without having two legitimate threats, Thomazin will not have the luxury of having the ability to sit on the perimeter and wait for kickouts.
WG will be able to get after you and defend, but if you can handle the pressure you will be able to compete.

Agree on all points. Sounds like Greenfield will be someone to watch out for.

I think Braymer will be right up there in the mix. They graduated All State Logan O'Dell but gain Senior 6'5 Austin Hall who set out all of last season with an injury. Hall as a sophomore 13.8 ppg and 8.7 rebounds. Returning from the 21-7 team in 2015-2016 is all district player and GRC first team 6'4 Jordan Miller who put up 16.9 ppg, 7.3 rpg and has 177 blocks the past two season.

I'm not sure which of the four, eight-team brackets Glendale will be put in, but the Kreul Classic has a nice field (a large one too) with former T of C teams Miller Grove and St. Raymond's included. We've played in NYC and now the Falcons will add Florida to that list. At least we've got Kickapoo beat in that category.

How are they with ball handling? Obviously Logan took care of the ball primarily last year.

Now that our football season is done, I'm ready for some basketball. Chilli girls will be very good, and the boys should win their fair share of games.. Looking forward to broadcasting them all. And to the Referees, I apologize for what I will probably say about half your calls this year :D lol
