The schedule has been set for the St. Francis Dig for Life Challenge, set to commence this weekend, Friday-Saturday, Sept. 11-12 in Cape Girardeau on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University and Notre Dame Regional High School. Forty-eight teams from the area (in addition to a few St. Louis-area schools) will be competing.
Dexter is the defending tournament champion. The Bearcats defeated Central (Park Hills) 25-15, 25-13 for the Gold Bracket championship last year.
Pool play begins Friday. Teams in each pool will play every team in the corresponding pool (three teams in each pool: Pool A teams vs. Pool B teams, Pool C teams vs. Pool D teams, etc.). Top teams in each pool advance to the Gold Bracket, teams that finish second will go to the Silver Bracket, and teams that finish last will be sent to the Bronze Bracket.
