What happens if one of these teams is still playing in the playoffs?
This happened a bunch a few years back...they played it as a JV game in those instances and still drew HUGE crowds.

In 1979 when WEbster had Tracy Mack and Jeff City had George Shorthose...The Statesmen actually played a varsity game vs. Kirkwood on Thursday...and then played again two days later and beat Jeff City 7-6 in the large class (back the 4A) State Title game in the Show-Me-Bowl played at Busch Stadium. CRAZY to think that could happen today!

That's actually pretty cool. I think every football school should establish a Thanksgiving rival.

I think there were several at one time. this rule was put in to allow the turkey game to continue as well as allow schools in basketball to play rescheduled games that were snowed out. I know my senior year in basketball we played a game after districts because it was a conference game.

This COOL VIDEO was sent to me by a cousin who lives in Kirkwood...they take this game SERIOUSLY...worth a look if you like high school football...

I’m pretty sure West Plains & Willow Springs used to play a Turkey day game
