Need to cap class one

If the football advisory committee/mshsaa/schools don’t put a cap on the size of class 1 schools more will go 8-man. Now, class 1 is the smallest 64 - then class 2,3,4,5 are divided up then the top 32 are class 6. Class 1 is the only one that has 64 teams.

Every time a class 1 school goes to 8-man the next smallest school class 2 team drops down. Higginsville was almost class 1 this year.

So, the disparity between the top and bottom increases. Leading to more of the bottom teams going to 8-man.

I don’t know what the cap should be. Maybe 150 or 180 or 200 - but I think mshsaa et al, should consider it.

MSHSAA Streams

How much are streaming services for the 1v8 district games that sometimes don't even work?
Who does the filming and production of these? I recall many games last year were subpar and/or didn't even work. Is there an effort being made on the part of of the millionares at MSHSAA to remedy this or are they committing fraud by shipping out a product they know won't work sometimes?

How much is the entry into district games vs regular season games?
Does MSHSAA pay the gate workers for district games or do the schools have to fork that over?

Unfair Districts

Perhaps the most unfair district I've ever seen is in softball this season. Columbia Rock Bridge and Blue Springs South are in the same district and both ranked in the top 10 nationally. Both should be playing for state hardware. Only losses were to each other. Grain Valley and Blue Springs could probably win most other districts as well. Class 5 in football in KC is another example. Grain Valley has some of the worst football teams in their district with hardly any wins. The other one has four legitimate threats to make it to the final 4. Set up districts going into week 9 or right after. Problem solved.
Always hated the way districts are set up in high school. Don't get me started on the ridiculous nature of track's district format. One off day or a couple fouls later in a field event and you are out regardless if your the best in the state and regardless of what you've done all season. Have automatic qualifying marks like an A standard for the Olympic Trials. Problem solved.
Whew, that was too much work, no wonder MSHSAA never changes!

COC 2022 Results

I'll post the final results down below, if anyone suspects any errors just let me know and I'll double check! Congratulations to tadqueasy, rockchalk, and baldguy finishing on the podium!

So as it stands at the end of regular season we've got Nixa and Carthage tied for 1st, with Nixa winning the head-to-head. Although if I had to pick I'd almost say Joplin is possibly the best overall team in the league this year even with losses to both of those. Honestly I expected the Eagles to be more like 4th or 5th this year with Nixa and WC fighting for 1st.

Webb City and Republic with their upset of Nixa are tied next and coincidentally they will be likely re-matching next week in district round 2.

Neosho gets the prize for most improved.

NWCMO Playoff Challenge 2022 format and rules

This contest, as stated in the regular season final thread, is WINNER TAKE ALL. This will be the same level prize as the regular season champ griffonsooner just won and EVERYONE is eligible including all four regular season winners. I have tweaked one item as you will see so here are the format and rules:

The playoff challenge consists of six rounds and moves as follows:

ALL players remain in the contest the first three full district rounds and scores are cumulative with a Week 3 tiebreak.
The top EIGHT then advance to Week 4, FOUR to Week 5 and just TWO to the final Week 6.

Picks are scored single for all games with the standard 30 point bonus/deduction in effect for 11-man and 40 (a change based on point spread research from moving up to 50 in the regular season) for 8-man. There will be no "games of the week".

Weeks 1-4 will consist only of NWCMO region games. Weeks 5 and 6 will include ALL Missouri games.

Unless I see some indication otherwise all picks will be due kickoff FRIDAYS except Week 6 due to the 8-man title game being contested on THURSDAY. Most weeks will include SATURDAY games.

Week 1 (8-Man first round and C1-6 district quarterfinals) will post either as soon as MSHSAA posts the official brackets OR tomorrow evening after the Chiefs game. I will monitor these as my personal schedule permits this weekend.

ANYONE with questions etc. please post them here I will respond ASAP. Again everything from the prior contest is gone so EVERYONE is back to zero. NEW PLAYERS ARE MOST WELCOME!
