Jeff Albert gone. The shoulder masseuse is gone.

Hitting coach gone. Pitching coach gone. Bullpen coach is gone. Bench coach is gone. Manager, GM and Mo still with us. Make it all make sense.

The Phillies are in the WS because they threw big money at offense, including LH hitting power bats and a stud pitcher.
Their #1-2 starters are better than St Louis’. Cards haven’t won the NL pennant in 9 years.

Class 2 Playoffs

A friendly discussion.
A great class, tons of very good teams

In the end I like Blair Oaks against Lafayette County in one Semi and Seneca vs Lamar in the other.

District 1 - Lift for Life
District 2 - Blair Oaks
District 3 - Mountain View Liberty
District 4 - Seneca
District 5 - Lamar
District 6 - St. Michaels
District 7 - Bowling Green
District 8 - Lafayette County

Class 3 Playoffs

A friendly discussion:
Some districts are loaded, some are awful.
Districts 3 - 6 are laughable honestly. The Lutheran St. Charles / Lutheran North winner may turbo their way to the state title game. St. Charles West lost to Potosi...badly. St. Clair lost to Potosi. Districts 5 and 6 are not good. Reeds Spring not bad, defense is iffy.

In the end...Ritter vs Maryville and Lutheran North vs Reeds Spring.

District 1 - Valle (two top 5 teams)
District 2 - Ritter by 80
District 3 - Lutheran North by a smidge over Lutheran St. Charles
District 4 - Sullivan
District 5 - ??????
District 6 - Reeds Spring
District 7 - Pleasant Hill
District 8 - Maryville (very good district, could go a few ways)

I think it's safe to say the D1, D2, D7, D8 side of the bracket has 10 of the top 12 teams minus LN and LSC.

Need to cap class one

If the football advisory committee/mshsaa/schools don’t put a cap on the size of class 1 schools more will go 8-man. Now, class 1 is the smallest 64 - then class 2,3,4,5 are divided up then the top 32 are class 6. Class 1 is the only one that has 64 teams.

Every time a class 1 school goes to 8-man the next smallest school class 2 team drops down. Higginsville was almost class 1 this year.

So, the disparity between the top and bottom increases. Leading to more of the bottom teams going to 8-man.

I don’t know what the cap should be. Maybe 150 or 180 or 200 - but I think mshsaa et al, should consider it.

MSHSAA Streams

How much are streaming services for the 1v8 district games that sometimes don't even work?
Who does the filming and production of these? I recall many games last year were subpar and/or didn't even work. Is there an effort being made on the part of of the millionares at MSHSAA to remedy this or are they committing fraud by shipping out a product they know won't work sometimes?

How much is the entry into district games vs regular season games?
Does MSHSAA pay the gate workers for district games or do the schools have to fork that over?

Unfair Districts

Perhaps the most unfair district I've ever seen is in softball this season. Columbia Rock Bridge and Blue Springs South are in the same district and both ranked in the top 10 nationally. Both should be playing for state hardware. Only losses were to each other. Grain Valley and Blue Springs could probably win most other districts as well. Class 5 in football in KC is another example. Grain Valley has some of the worst football teams in their district with hardly any wins. The other one has four legitimate threats to make it to the final 4. Set up districts going into week 9 or right after. Problem solved.
Always hated the way districts are set up in high school. Don't get me started on the ridiculous nature of track's district format. One off day or a couple fouls later in a field event and you are out regardless if your the best in the state and regardless of what you've done all season. Have automatic qualifying marks like an A standard for the Olympic Trials. Problem solved.
Whew, that was too much work, no wonder MSHSAA never changes!
