Crackpot Theories on What Constitutes "Team Speed" Thread.

Apparently, if track times, and game performance don't tell you, then some of you dumbasses have a formula I have never seen.

Elucidate me.

Also, you might want to submit a memo to the NFL to ignore 40 times, remove them from the combine numbers. Since they don't matter. And certainly not consider any 100m times for their prospects either.

A revolution in metrics...and you started it right here on this forum.

Weed Legal Now at the Federal Level?

The House Judiciary Committee passed a bill Wednesday that would effectively make marijuana legal.

The Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act of 2019 passed by a count of 24-10.

Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), chairman of the committee, introduced the bill and has gathered more than 50 co-sponsors of the bill in the House.

"Today's vote marks a turning point for federal cannabis policy, and is truly a sign that prohibition's days are numbered," Aaron Smith, executive director of the National Cannabis Industry Association, said in a press release.

Under the MORE Act, weed would be removed from the Controlled Substances Act, federally legalizing cannabis across the country. Additionally, past federal cannabis convictions would be required to be expunged.

The bill would also establish the Cannabis Justice Office, an organization that would introduce a 5 percent tax on state-legal cannabis sales, among other things.

Weed-related businesses, such as dispensaries, would be able to apply for loans and grants through the Small Business Administration.

Moreover, Veterans Affairs doctors would be allowed to prescribe medical marijuana in accordance with individual state cannabis laws.

Wednesday's vote marks the first time that a congressional committee has voted in approval of the legalization of marijuana.

St Dominic seating

Looks like their bleachers only seat about 1,000 from the google view.
And there are no visitors seating.

I’m wondering if that’s going to be enough. It very well may, who knows.

But with it being a Saturday game and good weather and the semi finals, I would be shocked if WP didn’t bring at least 300-400 and they could very well bring more than that

With St Dom being a private, maybe they will only have as many people as WP, and in that case, it would be fine, but just something I noticed

BO and BG

Alright, I have been seeing this showdown coming for about 6-8 weeks now. Now, here we are. We finally got to see BG actually struggle with an opponent for the first time this season. I only seen video of BG this season but I have seen BO numerous times this season to include the wacky game in St Louis on Saturday. Quite a bit of media are already calling this "the showdown" and are excited for this matchup.
BG players and locals are gearing up already from what I have seen on social media and so the place should be overly packed on Saturday. BO fans travel very well, and that is just a given. Several of the BO fanbase tailgate all out just like they do in college and pro football.
BG has been stout all season on defense and a juggernaut on offense. Of course, we watched that every week against opponents that just seemed over matched in what was considered a weak strength of schedule. With that we had so many questions with BG heading west to face Higginsville which was highly debated last week. In all honesty, of what I saw throughout the season, any team that was able to put up those kind of numbers on offense and especially defense showed how highly disciplined they are. They always had the right game plan and with that routed their opponents weekly.
With a stout defense of Higginsville in a back and forth battle in a hostile environment BG was able to pull out the victory with help from the highly talked about Marcus Starks on 2 running TD scores, and 2 Blene Bryant scores.
Hard fought game as it should be.
Blair Oaks on the other side has grown quite a bit as the season went on. Tested early with Maryville and Lutheran North which helped erase the biggest question that BO had going into the season which was their defense. Being considerably young on defense this past season BO gave up more points to many opponents than what they did in their big 2020 and 2018 campaigns. Their defense grew up this season and in all honesty has been the key in their success this season. As many opponents was all concerned about how to defend BO potent offense several schools underestimated BO defense and special teams which has made game changing plays all season.

With the upcoming game you have a team that loves to run going up against a team that is very difficult to run against. Many schools will pick an option to take away from BO, Dylan's feet or Dylan's arm. BO welcomes this and will take what is given and RPO their opponents to death. One thing is for sure when it comes to playing BO is you don't want to play from behind and you do not want to risk it on 4th down. Lift for Life did exactly that and it costed them every time.
Let the debate begin.

Summer ball

Who has looked good so far this summer? I watched some games last night at Willard and can tell you that Miller will still be a factor in class two. I counted 11 players there which is more than they had last yr and they lost at least 3-4 seniors including their best players. So most of their players are freshmen and they are pretty good.

Also saw Fair Grove vs Marshfield, two solid teams last yr with almost everyone returning. Fair Grove’s press got to Marshfield and they won by around 15. Watch out for FG this season….

Wouod be interested to hear how other teams are doing and where there might br some games this week and next.

New year. Same rant

Do we know who the three OL were who weren't named all-conference in the Suburban Gold this year?

At the point at which you have 122 all-conference selections in a five team league, and 22 OL selections, about the only thing you're trying to do is figure out which select few kids were trash.

We selected 24.4 kids per team, and even made sure we named all five kickers and punters, but there were three of you OL that were so bad we just couldn't do it. We couldn't put your name on that kist and make it an even 125.

Semifinals thoughts

Class 6-

I thought CBC had some deficiencies (for them) at the QB position that the Liberty North defense would be able to exploit. I guess CBC is just better than I gave them credit for. I would hope that LSN can give them a better game this week. It may take a few breaks and a near perfect game.

Class 5-

Fort Osage v Cape Girardeau Central: I think it will come down to whether or not Central’s youth can be taken advantage of by a more experienced bunch. Maybe the homefield advantage and the long trip by Ft Osage will help.

Carthage v Francis Howell: The only 1 v 2 matchup of the week. Francis Howell has a clear advantage in the passing game and special teams. Will it be enough against Gall? Should be a good one to find out.

Class 4-

St Mary’s v Smithville: St Mary’s can score points in bunches. Will Smithville be able to control the clock, drive the ball and finish? I’d love to see this one.

St Dominic v West Plains: St Dominic has been only an above average to good team most of the season. Is the return of Jackson Overton enough to put them over the top? Will be excited to find out.

Class 3-

Pleasant Hill v Cardinal Ritter: Truth be told, I didn’t expect Pleasant Hill to beat Maryville. Will be interesting to see if they can continue the magic against what has to be one of the largest prohibitive favorites.

Sullivan v Reeds Spring: Similar teams in some ways. Although Reed Spring seems to have played the tougher schedule, both teams seem to have improved throughout the year but had some lackluster performances against mediocre teams once the postseason started. Which one will bring their A game?

Class 2-(to me, the most interesting of the final fours)

Blair Oaks v Bowling Green: Along with Hair, Blair Oaks brings a very disciplined team to the field each week. Their defense may get challenged unlike anything they’ve seen this season with a prolific scoring machine in Bowling Green. Will Blair Oaks be the wrench in that machine?

Seneca v Lamar: Both teams bring a storied tradition to the game, Lamar’s just a bit more recent. Will Lamar reign supreme or does Seneca have enough to reveal that this king has no clothes?

Class 1-(know very little about this classification)

Duchesne v East Buchanan: A lot has been made of Duchesne’s schedule and playing many larger schools. Will it be enough to take on the returning champs?

Adrian v Monroe City: Their loss to Tipton a puzzle, does Adrian have enough to give Monroe City their first loss of the season when it counts the most?

Fun fact-Of the 11 games being played this weekend, not including 8-man, over the years I’ve seen football in 6 of the 11 stadiums and 13 of the 22 teams playing.

Lawsuit vs NCAA

Matt Gee played LBer for USC in the late 80’s - early 90’s. His family is suing the NCAA over CTE.

FIVE linebackers from the 1989 USC Trojans died before age 50.

Moore v. Harper

Case to be heard by SC. Could lead to the end of democracy.

My summary: NC GOP wanted to redraw house districts in 2018 to benefit their party. A computer drew 3,000 possible maps. They picked the one most likely to benefit their party.

The gerrymandering worked. Despite the vote in the state being almost even between Dems and Reps, they won 10 of the 13 seats.

The NC Supreme Court said: you can’t do that. The GOP has taken it to the U.S. Supreme Court hoping for them to rule that state courts cannot override their actions.
