Might be one way to get a few on board who probable would not take it otherwise.

Public polling has found that whether or not to take the vaccine has become a political issue, which is discouraging, Delaney said.

“We have to create, in my judgment, an incentive for people to really accelerate their thinking about taking the vaccine,” Delaney said.

To be sure, those who are not comfortable receiving the vaccine would not be forced to do so.

“If you’re still afraid of the vaccine and don’t want to take it, that’s your right,” Delaney said. “You won’t participate in this program.

“But guess what?” he added. “You’re going to benefit anyhow, because we’ll get the country to herd immunity faster, which benefits you. So I think everyone wins.”

I read yesterday for this to work we need at least 70% of us to get the shot. $1,000 might do it.

$1500 or $1000 for something I was going to do anyway.
I heard him this weekend talking about the idea somewhere.
I think it is a good way of getting money in peoples' hands and to stop this god forsaking thing.

I never get the flu shot so not planning on getting the Covid shot. Not an anti vaxer just don't take meds in general. I have had all my shots as a kid, get a tetanus shot every 10 years or so, and will take antibiotics if prescribed. Can't see money as an enticement for me. I'm not concerned with the flu, covid, shingles, or pneumonia. I could get any of the above but every treatment has a down side so I just prefer to live life as it comes rather than trying to prevent it.
That tells me you have never had shingles. I had a very light case of it on my lower back years ago and I don't even want that again. It was just above my belt line, any lower and it would have really been a problem. One of my older brothers had a bad case and it was on his face, it damaged his left eye and made him miserable for weeks.

I know several people who have had it. Some confirmed and some with obvious symptoms that confirmation would be of no value to. Some have been very sick different lengths of time and most just minor symptoms. Seems like there just aren't any hard and fast rules with this illness but obviously age make things more problematic. Had an uncle die last week with unconfirmed covid (was 92 waiting for the first illness to come along and claim him), have several co workers of various ages and various symptoms (all confirmed cases). Glad you had a case you could handle.

Sorry for your loss.

Sure if you have it on your face, or anywhere else, it will be very painful and can leave scars, and could mess with your eyesight forever, but what's a little pain.

Yeah when I first got mine I thought I had maybe gotten into poison ivy. So I went to the doctor and they went oh no you have shingles. I was like what that is for old people....well I was in my late 40's lol. They gave me a shot but said I might have waited to long, it had started on my right side of the back of my neck and moved around to the front of my face. Lucky I guess I hadn't waited to long it got bad but then started to turn around quickly. Doctor told me to watch my eyes because it had started to move close.

I won’t lie. It was a rough couple weeks . Even today, I’m not quite the same.

This was early on in the pandemic when it was supposedly coming, but we had minimal cases. The Biologist I was on a project with the week prior ended up in the ER twice. He later tested for antibodies.

There were several moments over the 3 peak days where I got scared. Couldn’t get enough oxygen. Whenever I’d get close to going to the hospital, my wife would also demanded I go.

Of course, at that point, going into the ER was out the question.

I am sorry for the loss of your uncle.

I too got sick before it supposedly was in the USA back in Jan/Feb, I was bad, went to the doctor they tested me for flu twice and strep, doc swore I must have the flu but twice I was negative. However now seeing that they are showing that it is showing up in blood taken back around that time it is very possible.

I had it when I was in my 30's working track maintenance on the RR and I worked every day. Like I said if it had been 3 or 4 inches lower it would have been in my belt line and I doubt if I could worked at all.
