Do u still think Kearney has a chance of making it to the big game? Does any of these other teams can make a long run in the playoffs?
Can a unknown team make a long playoff push?

My opinion Platte County Kearney game going be a knockdown dragout. Will those teams still have a high energy level the next week facing Smithville?

Actually because of head-to-head results Kearney would go to Smithville in the semifinals. Platte County will likely host a dangerous Excelsior Springs. The former game probably low scoring the latter very high scoring.

Standings are:

1 Smithville 8-1 47
2 Platte County 8-1 44.92
3 Kearney 7-2 43.33
4 Excelsior Springs 7-2 39.17
5 Lafayette (St. Joseph) 7-2 38.78
6 Kirksville 4-5 30.19
7 Marshall 3-6 23
8 Winnetonka 1-8 18.08

Seedings SHOULD be:

1 Platte County 8-1 (Head to head rule)
2 Smithville 8-1
3 Kearney 7-2
4 Excelsior Springs 7-2
5 Lafayette (St. Joseph) 7-2
6 Marshall 3-6 (Head to head rule)
7 Kirksville 4-5
8 Winnetonka 1-8

Tough district.

So you’re saying Smithville should be the #1 seed and not Platte County since they beat Smithville head-to-head? Interesting. That changes everything.

I do think whoever comes out of that district has an easy path to state ....I think it's a crap shoot between Smithville , Platte and Kearney....but they are all a far cry from Webb , West Plains and Ladue

Assuming Webb gets by the West Plains / Ladue winner (which I wouldn't guarantee) ...Platte would cause them more issues than Kearney and Smithville. Webbs secondary has been pretty suspect this year

You picked Kearney to win by double digits. Your opinion is invalid

At one point I said 10 points but I said Ks offense can be flaky and don’t sleep on 8 returning starter seniors for Smithville. All these guys saying blowout were crazy.

But you have to consider HOW SV scored.

1) by the skin of their teeth one one drive. 2 fourth down and the third down conversions in one drive.

2) a drive with two consecutive 15 yard penalties and a 5yard penalty that started after a short kick.

They will not get that lucky in the second meeting. It will be keaney by 10.

Then they will beat PC easily again and have a pretty easy path to state

Our secondary has been suspect since about forever.

Listen to JRod on Podcast couple of weeks ago when asked about our suspect pass defense. “We stop the run first, if they can beat us throwing....” not an exact quote I don’t remember so good these days but that was the general idea

I hope you are right on this one.

Any chance Ex. Springs can put together a strong game, execute and upset Platte County?

Short answer is YES. PC has trouble against the run. For this to happen, though, they have to get over their own psychological hump this Friday hosting Lafayette. This 4-5 game seems to happen every year and the Irish always seem to pull it out in a shootout.

Kearney has a very bad habit of looking great going up 7-0 then seemingly relying on their top drawer D to hold serve until the fourth quarter where they bank on their superior depth to draw the game out late. Now that everything is on the line THIS CANNOT HAPPEN anymore. If they play with the offensive energy they did on the drive to go up 4 with 2 minutes to go (the double penalty BS is, I will grant, something along with the blatant targeting on Connery that will be ample fuel for Kearney's fire in a rematch) the Dogs will win going away. The big, big question is will this loss kick them into gear for a run to Columbia????? Given we are talking about teenage kids there is simply NO way to answer that one until the game happens one week from Friday...............

Yes, but we know that's a goofy
lie. Good call Mr. All American. We should believe you since you played football in AAU rec league...

Respectfully disagree but shall see. If Lafayette beats Excelsior again this is all moot because PC will definitely blow the Irish out.
Ex. Sprgs has beaten Warrensburg, their only win versus a team with a winning record. Platte would have to play really poor to lose a game to Ex.Sprgs. Platte is better than Odessa and Pleasant Hill who beat Ex. Sprgs.
I think Platte has fixed their defense. They are not good, but neither is Smithville or Kearney. It comes down to who fumbles or makes penalties. This district stinks this year. The quarterbacks are Ok. None of the teams are physical.

Huh. Staley HC Lite certainly did not come away from Week 2 feeling that way about Kearney's D and said so. K is very, very physical and fast defensively. The other night what happened is someone not named Staley found a way to control the ball/clock and wear them down and that (pen aided) happened the final drive. I would also argue PC and Odessa would be a very good game.
