Why the #%^* do we pitch to Yelich?

What you just argued for, I said was fine & I did. Throwing inside and one slipping is not the same as throwing a 99 MPH fastball with no intention other than a HBP

Yea I know. But my point is that a lot of this generation's pitchers are afraid to throw inside. Instead of the hitters having fear, its actually the pitcher who is afraid.

Now that is something I won't disagree with. The power arms feel like they need to strike everyone out, and going inside gives the other team a free base runner rather than an out if they slip

Anybody know how hard Gibson, Drysdale and others were throwing? We know Ryan was throwing 100 and I'd bet he knocked down a few in his day. It didn't have to be because a guy hit you too well, a lot of the time it was because the opposing pitcher hit one of your players so... I don't how these 'barbarians' ever managed to stay in MLB. :eek:
