He just did it again! Does anybody think the schedule is weird when your set to play a team in your division 10 times in the first month of the season? That's over half the games against them for the whole dang season. I guess we'll be playing some very important inter-leage games in September.Because we brilliantly line up our starting pitching so our worst starter opens an important series vs the division leaders.
Tony LaRussa just rolled over in his grave.

I also long for the days when the bullpen had a couple lefties that had a shot to get lefties out. I loved those Kline/King days. It really shouldn't be that hard to find lefties that can do a job. I've seen other teams. They have them. And don't pay a ton for them. The Birds...we get Cecil and some other scrubs. Be nice if Miller had a companion. Or a manager that could, I don't know, actually manage a bullpen.Cardinals Pitchers meeting:

The lefty specialist is about to die. Once the 3 batter minimum comes into effect, those pitcher's offer little valueI also long for the days when the bullpen had a couple lefties that had a shot to get lefties out. I disagree with this. Make an adjustment. There's no way in the world some of these guys (talking about you Marp) shouldn't be learning how to get on base with these shifts.Once I pass the "2 infielders on each side of second base, all within 130 feet of homeplate" rule, we will be rid of the drastic shifting and some of the nerds will be let go.
No more sinking line drive doubles to the gap in right-center caught by the second basemen 180 feet out. Bringin back the action!!!!
This X a million...There's not an analytic in the world that would tell you to pitch to Yelich there.Maybe you just need better nerds

How about taking the chance of gettin tossed when you dust him off a couple of times. NOBODY should be that comfy in the batters box after hitting 5 or 6 HR's against you in the first month of the season! Where the hell is Gibson or Carpenter when you need them?I'm not sure if you guys realized this or not (not being a smartass)
Yelich has 8 HR's this year. 7 vs STL. Might be time to utilize that free intentional walk
You won't ever get tossed for pushing people back. Intentionally hitting people is a trash moveHow about taking the chance of gettin tossed when you dust him off a couple of times. Meh, if it's where it needs to be...not really. We've gotten soft with this kind of stuff. Keep it below the shoulders and all is good. Guys used to be able to get out of the way a bit too. Seems to be a lost art. I remember practicing how to take one/spin away from one. Guys are diving in so much now, that's not even in the script.Intentionally hitting people is a trash move
Add the body armor they wear now and it's easy to see why they dig in like they do. Then they still throw a hissy when one does get in on them.Meh, if it's where it needs to be...not really. Yeah, but it used to be guys throwing 90-92 with 1 guy maybe going 95-97. Now it's 97-99 with about 3 guys going 99-104.Meh, if it's where it needs to be...not really. Are you nuts? You don't think knockin a guy down that's killing you every night is ok? If you go in and he can't get out of the way then so be it, but you can't just let him stand in the box all warm and comfy every at bat. I didn't say try to hit him in the head. At least Wacha figured how to get him out tonight. You won't ever get tossed for pushing people back. Intentionally hitting people is a trash move
You don't read well, do you?Are you nuts? You don't think knockin a guy down that's killing you every night is ok? I think Bob Gibson, Chris Carpenter and whole bunch of other big time pitchers, would take exception if you were to say they hit, or knocked a guy down, because they sucked at their job. Heck I even take exception to that statement. You don't read well, do you?
I said throwing inside and pushing them back is fine. I did that every time I pitched with a 2 seam
Intentionally hitting someone because you suck at your job of executing pitches is embarrassing
Then you, and the rest of them, are incredibly weak minded. If you threw a pitch that ended up over the fence, there is about a 99% chance that you threw a crap pitchI think Bob Gibson, Chris Carpenter and whole bunch of other big time pitchers, would take exception if you were to say they hit, or knocked a guy down, because they sucked at their job. Execute and do your job. Hitting another player for doing their job shows how weak you are. Do your freaking job better and get them out.

You want a piece of me?Calm down tough guy
I'm not sure I agree with this. There are a lot of guys that hit good pitches out. Granted, there are a lot of HRs hit on bad pitches too. Nothing wrong with aiming at a butt cheek. There are always some good pitches hit out. I've seen Rizzo hit a ball in the RH batters box for a HRI'm not sure I agree with this. There are a lot of guys that hit good pitches out. Things change. The game evolves. You mean these hall of fame types that dusted off their share of batters that seemed to be too comfy in the box?
And guys take you deep over and over, yeah that's better.Things change. The game evolves.
Pitch betterAnd guys take you deep over and over, yeah that's better.
Pitch better
Walk the guy
And maybe.....I don't know... ..pitch better?
Throwing inside and pushing people back is completely fine. I've said this multiple times. Will never say differentThat would include busting some fastballs well inside so he has to worry about them and will stop diving out over the plate like he is playing wiffle ball in my back yard.
To me it’s strange how the “old-timers” knew when they were going to get brushed back/drilled and took it as part of the game. Nowadays, the pitchers (for the most part), don’t try to hit batters, but hitters sure do take offense to anything close.Lets be truthful. Dont take it personally. But this is a millenial thing. When you frequently pitch inside to power threats, sometimes you lose control of one and hit the dude. The last thing a freakin millenial wants is to be considered a "mean bully" who drills homerun hitters. Thus, Yelich and his teammates can dig in and not have to be concerned.
Most baby boomer fans I know have no problem with pitchers drilling bat flippers or mouthers in the backside. Its a generational thing .
