Why share this story?

Revenge.
Revenge for Trump calling out the reporter last week. The media selectively left out the prelude of the reporters snotty and interrupting questions.
Governor Cuomo said the same exact thing Trump did but Brian Stelter called his comments hopeful. They lie. Then they have reporters on aire who reinforce the misrepresentations with more lies.

Because it's good for people to be reminded that instead of panicking, they should take medicine as prescribed by medical professionals?

Trump going up there and pretending we have some miracle cure with this was insane.

Not one of your best Trolls. That is false. Pure garbage.
The President of the United States should not be talking about chloroquine. We should absolutely be testing it but it's totally irresponsible for him to say something like that when (a) there's no decent proof it does anything and (b) it led to people killing themselves

The right wing twitter/blogosphere is in a tizzy about this for no real good reason.

The President should be focused on social distancing, supporting other recommendations of medical experts, and on overseeing the economic and medical response. Not pretending we have miracle cures. This is a minor example of Trump's inability to stay disciplined and to focus on what he should be saying and doing.

We already know the success of the drug is anecdotal. Get your stick out of booty.

The words of the President are important. There's a reason for Presidents to be measured and not talk about miracle cures like they are a 2 am scam artist miracle preacher like Peter Popoff.

It's more than just usage of this drug; it's making people not understand the gravity of the current situation. The best medical advice we have is to stay home and take this seriously. That's what he should be saying! Focus on the efforts to get staff and supplies, and on our investments in potential vaccines and treatments. Don't call out things that don't exist.

He's doing all that. I posted the very things you copied here a week ago. We are data starved right now. Is the rate of increase of death rates leveling off in Italy? We don't know yet. Faucee had already cautioned the drug. It's true you can't go to your Dr. and get a prescription. We all know this.
Turn off the garbage. We're allowed to weigh loss of life versus public policy by using a sensible means. Not the panic driven jibberish on the left. We'll know more in a week when the data is released in the West. Let's not be Italy.

Were did the President recommend dosage of this drug, come on you use to have a little more common sense. I think all he said was we should if people are dying let them have the right to try. That is exactly what he said. If you are dying and nothing else is working you should have the right to try. That is exactly what he said when it came to this drug.

Anybody with any common sense who watched what the President live, understands what he was saying and doing. He was not peddling an answer or miracle drug just that this had showed promise and people should have the right to try.

He oversold the hell out of something in his quest to tell the public he has miracle fixes for this. It's a pattern. He is flailing for a quick answer instead of focusing on the fact that this will be a sustained initiative. He should not be pretending, for example, that the social distancing will be over in 9 days.

The New York Times changed their lead story about the economic package 3 times. 3 times. Democrats are using this to sieze their need to micro manage.
FEMA Director doesn't know the estimate of masks available. The Government does nothing well. We all know where this is leading.

Over sold what, he never said it was a miracle drug, his exact words was it had showed promise and those who were out of hope and dying should have the right to try. How is that over selling? Did you even actually watch it live I sure as hell did.

And he has already sent out something about this may not be over in 10 days and NBC this morning was asking what the hell does this actually mean what is he trying to say.

What to you want him to do fuel hysteria and panic around the country telling people there is no hope at this time and the best we can do is purchase everything in sight and not go out in public? Were we have looting and price gouging?

This is not and should not be a Dem or Repub problem. Even business who have disaster recovery teams who have drilled on this sort of thing are struggling with the scope of issues that are facing them. You can never prepare for something that is going to affect everybody in the world and everything, the scope of what is going on is huge. I just pray for those who are out everyday making sure that the store shelves are stocked, medical supplies are being delivered. Some people cannot shelter in place they have to be the front line making sure the rest of us have what we need to sustain life. Hopefully as many of us make it to the other side.

He should be honest that this is a long journey and that we're all in it together. He should be setting realistic expectations that are consistent with what our medical authorities and state level political leaders are doing. It's outrageously silly to tweet that social distancing is going to end in a week or two. It's not.

Honesty is tremendously important. We need to be able to believe our leaders in 3 months when they have a treatment that works, in 9 months if they have a vaccine then, etc. Getting people's hopes up for spurious treatments is a terrible idea. There's a reason people like the Surgeon General and Dr. Fauci are much more circumspect when they talk about these things. They know they need to get it right to maintain their credibility.

This is exactly the sort of thing he's bad at - he sells everything into a simple fix that is already in process. It'll be zero cases so soon. We have a vaccine on the way. Etc. It's how he approaches everything. It's dangerous in this situation.

Yes. I was still venting over the newest bill and the Democrats need to sieze and perhaps use this crisis to reshape America most certainly for the worst. These people are not good people in my opinion. Agreed..The front lines are most important.

People need hope, Was Kennedy honest with the Cuban missile crises, did he tell people how close the world was to total destruction?

I am not going to say I agree with everything that comes out of his mouth, but honestly I don't think what he is doing is selling false hope, I think what he is doing is selling hope and don't panic. And really we don't know what the truth is at this point.

Exactly, vb, Trump lies/embellishes/exaggerates/makes stuff up every time he gets in front of a microphone. It's disgusting to see the right defend his lies. Trump is a magic bean salesman. Just stop lying!! Trump can't stop doing it. He is a pathological liar and his sheep gobble it up like poop on a shingle.

People need hope, but they also need to view their leaders as credible. And part of being trustworthy means telling hard truths on occasion.

Cuban Missile Crisis really isn't a great comparison. There's nothing that Joe Schmoe could do in 1962 that mattered, and the outcome was destined to happen quickly. Your actions matter now and the range of outcomes remains much more uncertain than it did in 1962, where it seemed the choices were generally binary between massive war or a return to normalcy.

I think credibility is what you make it when listening to our leaders.
I voted for Obama based on that I thought he was honest and liked what he was promising, his 8 years in office proved he was a very dishonest person, Said one thing and many times did another. I didn't vote for Trump based on the fact that I didn't like a lot of the words that came from the mans mouth yes I felt he was dishonest, but for the most part many of the things he talked about doing while campaigning he has tried to do or done, I don't like them all but he has tried.

How is that any different than the BS that the left ate up from Obama, Clinton's, Carter or Biden/Bernie now? Oh yeah they did it in a smooth Pat you on the back demeanor then stabbed the American people in the Back AHHHH so as long as it's done tasefully it's OK HMMMM

At least Trump is straight up with who he is and doesn't hide it.

I voted for Trump because I understand him...I knew that he would try to get the things done that he promised based on his Ego and Pride. Trump wants to WIN at everything and Prove to other's that he is better so I knew he would strive to do the things he promised at all cost's.

As opposed to other Presidents who lie and lie again to gain the office so they can try and change American into what they Envision is the best for the little folks who need to be shepherded by the intellectual.

I liked everything Obama said as well, but I knew based on his Chicago association, how his mentors where radials....weather underground anyone? His angry hippie mother and her associates etc. and How he confronted Joe the Plumber that he was lying about everything.

Obama was without a doubt the worst President we have ever had, he tried to fundamentally change this country into a Socialist country controlled by his version of the intellectual elite. He is worse than Bernie in that regard he was just so smooth that the masses ate it up. Bernie at least doesn't hide or lie about what he is I can respect that.

Yes I voted Obama once, not the second time he let me down with NAFTA and many other things he promised the working man. I voted independent this last election, I started out liking Trump but many things he said during his campaign turned me off and I was not sure about him. But I am voting Trump this next one. Not because of what he says, but because of what he does, I don't always like what he says or how he says it, but he does things for the working man, somebody the Dems have forgotten they were supposed to support over the years. Trump even went against his own party and said don't allow buy backs of stock he was okay with that. He likes big business and I understand that, but he understands you also need the working class for the economy to work. And they need good jobs and not all of them will go onto college.

I 100% understand why many are put off by Trump, he is a arrogant, womanizing,Ego maniac. He likes to hyperspin everything in his favor. It's who he is and its made him successful. Many can't get past that because they see him as not being presidential enough. That is a emotional based response that easily clouds the data of his results. At one time I wished he'd just stop twitter etc but now I'm on board with him not hiding behind some made up persona to satisfy those who can't separate feelings and emotion from logic. No matter what he did he would be attacked by the Left and MSM....he isn't part of the in Crowd.

But as you said he understands that Big Business is needed but that they must also provide Jobs for the average guy and that the back bone of America is the working class....Hence his war with China on trade. He get's that uncontrolled immigration is wrong, unfair and dangerous....He has tried to remain positive during this crisis and to stop the crazy panic...he has been attacked for that and ridiculed as well.

Grading on a curve, but I'll take Mnuchin 50 times over much of the rest of his team. He's reasonably competent. He understood vast action was needed. I mean, he could have picked someone like Stephen Moore or let Jared Kushner write the bill.

"HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE & AZITHROMYCIN, taken together, have a real chance to be one of the biggest game changers in the history of medicine"

This is absurd nonsense that the President should not be saying.

Eh, the issue with Trump isn't his Twitter, it's that he has the attention span of a gnat and his ego is such that he thinks he's the smartest person on earth on every single topic.

Trump said he'd ban stock buybacks, and then wrote a bill that allows the Secretary of the Treasury to allow them whenever they want. That is not a bill that bans buybacks.
