He's been pretty good lately but he was obviuously NOT getting the ball down, he was LUCKY to the get the outs he got and they did NOT need a DP when the lefty came up. Randy Choate gets paid to get lefties out, if they pinch for him let Choate throw a pitch out of the zone and bring in someone else. That said, where the heck is Martinez? Is he ONLY allowed to pitch in long relief since they brought him back. They needed a strikeout or two after Maness gave up a couple of hits and CMart is capable of getting them.

I got so pi$$ed when Davis hit the bomb, I don't remember the situation...but I think there were two outs. Can't remember if Choate was up getting ready. Can't even remember if Choate was available. But he should have been in there to pitch to Davis. Dude is notoriously bad vs. lefties. He's hitting ONE FREAKING HUNDRED against them this season. Under .200 for his career. With virtually no power. And a K rate of around 30-35%. Just absolutely stupid to not have Choate come in there. Matheniging at its finest.

I agree with you 3r but my question was why you would pull Freeman who just had a great inning and low pitch count the inning before in a tie game. Just another day on the rollercoaster.

I agree vb but once Maness came in it was obvious he was not getting ground balls or even getting the ball down and when the dude hit the bomb there were 2 outs and no need for a DP guy anyway. I'm sure they would have PH for the lefty if Choate came in but Matheny had options in the pen to go to after Choate threw one pitch. That rule makes me wonder why you can PH for guy that has not had to taken a pitch but you can't change pitchers until he throws a pitch.
