But he's the HR guy you've been screaming for. He leads the team in HR's in a lot less at bats and as many in the minors in a short period of time.If you really pay attention, you realize that Paul DeJong has no business playing SS in the major leagues. Its a farce.

HR's are HR's no matter where the HR hitter plays on defense. Remember a strikeout is just another out.I never screamed for a HR hitting SS who strikes out on absurd pitches and cant field a routine ground ball. Stop it.
That's the case with anybody they call up at any position or on the mound, but he was doing in it Memphis and he just keeps doing it for the Big Birds. He may fall son his face soon, or even next season like Diaz did. I hate it that guys strikeout so much these days but it the norm rather than the exception in the game today.Let's see him do it for another 2 months before we anoint him the HR guy.
Can we call him a HR guy yet? Dude has 18 in the bigs in 3 months and double figures in AAA. He's batting .297 with 42 RBI, OBP-326,SLG-578 and OPS-904 and throw in 16 doubles and 80 SO's. I agree he may need to be at 3rd instead of SS but he has to be in the lineup until he figures out he ain't a HR hitter. BTW Pham has 88 strikeouts and everybody loves him, including me.Let's see him do it for another 2 months before we anoint him the HR guy.

I get all that but he IS a HR hitter right now an right now is when they need someone to pick up a dead inning and he has. Next year is next year, they can deal with that this the winter or in ST. They ARE in this race because the Cubs allowed them to be, just go for it!A big part of the worry with dejong is even if he keeps hitting hr he has grichuk potential to hit .230
I do too! Then I remember, he's Grichuk with a much higher BABIP. High K rate. Low BB rate. He's not a realistic long-term middle of the order guy. And really isn't the greatest long-term SS given his defense. But I do like what his bat gives. Birds seem to have a lot of 2B/3B (Diaz, Wong, Wisdom, Gyorko, DeJong), but no SS. Also seem to have a glut of OF'ers. Problem is, the lineup doesn't have room for a Greg Garcia-type bat (if that's your defensive-minded SS's bat equivalency) if there's no legit middle-of-the order bats.I prefer to think that he is legit and now we only need a #4 hitter to become a dangerous team on offense. I guy can dream can't he?
