Why are Mshaa events so expensive?

I just saw where state wrestling went up to $9 per session.
I'm talking, not just state wrestling, but most other sports districts and beyond.
It gets pretty pricey for a large family to come see and support a family member.

Economics: price = what people will pay.
MSHSAA, like anything else, ain't charity.
Besides, you gotta find a way to pay for all those other "activities' that no one outside of a few parents would pay to attend.
"few parents would pay to attend" Whoa, sorry, don't buy that. Most events my son has been/is involved in (football, basketball, and wrestling) seem highly attended from the districts on up. People do seem willing to pay. But is it justified?

No....
Only a few (other than parents) would pay to attend.
Thought I was clear, but I'm self-aware enough to know that I'm less and less clear all the time.
I thought earlier today when I came on my deck, shook my fist, and yelled "hey, you kids! Get off my lawn!" that I was pretty straightforward, but they actually thought I was trying to be funny.
(Shoulda looked at their faces when the 12 gauge appeared, though)
*Note to all leftist bleeding hearts: Before ranting, please understand the preceding anecdote is only a joke...a JOKE! I hope I am being clear.
Sorta like he swung and missed not realizing you were speaking of golf, tennis, lacrosse, cross country...and all the "activities" MSHSAA lists (see non sports). You know, the stuff that has about 10 spectators.

I didn't realize some of those activities are so expensive to maintain.
Golf courses, tennis courts, et al aren't free. I know what we paid for golf courses for tournaments and such. It's not cheap. Club I'm a member at put in a bid to host state this past year. I have no idea of the costs, but I know a family member on the board was pretty surprised.

Is MSHSAA not a 501 C3? They are not supposed to be in this for profit margin.

Instead of forcing school districts to spend hundreds/thousands on new basketballs, raise membership fees a little for their costs and quit soaking parents and fans. The new Spaldings suck, btw. 65 bucks a pop. After 5-6 games/practices they lose their orange color and assume a brick-like quality. Instead of a baseball bat I keep a used TF-1000 Legacy by my desk to throw at possible intruders.

Agreed. The new Spaldings are garbage. Out of 16 I bought, 12 wouldn't bounce straight on first use. Rep came out and agreed. Replaced 12 on warranty. Replaced 4 more out of that 12. They last about a month of good use before they get very hard and the cover starts peeling.
