Who “won” your jamboree?

That is what I thought and it counted as a game for those schools as it was in season. that was extended to all basketball schools as a pre-season and I "think" football picked up on it.
Wasn't it around 2002 it became a 'football' thing?

I know before 2005 because, as an administrator, I had to attend one. Head FB coach before then wanted no part of a jamboree so kept the "soap game."

I can remember 2002 because we were trying to count up enough wins on the schedule so we didn't break the 'streak' of consecutive above .500 seasons.

Ended up winning state but looked terrible at Jambo.

I didn't know (1) they had jamborees for volleyball back then, and (2) they had men's volleyball back then.

whoever stayed healthy won their jamboree.

Veer2 says the team that didn't get a JAMmed finger in the jamboree.

Liberty HS Jamboree:
Ranked in order of performance I was there to witness.
1) Liberty
2) Smithville
4) Park Hill / Blue Springs South

Liberty looked explosive on D and Offense was much improved passing and consistent rush from multiple backs. Smithville is solid again with new QB but disciplined D returning many starters and contributors.

Park Hill was sloppy and very weak on the offensive end, plus defensive blown assignments. Blue Springs South is more athletic than almost each team but no bearing on coverages, offensive execution, etc. Time will tell with all of these teams but as per usual the teams who are ready for playoffs are crisp at a Jamboree, which Smithville and Liberty both were crisp.

I heard Smithville gave up quite a few scores

To mention something someone else stated on forums. Short fields yield different calls, also Smithville is a Class 4 going to bat against Class 6 schools with over 1900 students a piece. They will be just fine as the season rolls along!

Are jamborees becoming the high school equivalent of college tier 2 post season bowls? Studs are setting out to avoid injury, teams don't show much and if it weren't for peer pressure, coaches would opt out? Teams stage joint practices with scrimmages and teams camps offer pretty realistic scenarios, maybe jamborees are going the way of the Bike helmet, the one piece girdle and the "water breaks only make you sick" practices?
All i know is Webbs starters played less than 15 total plays on either side both games combined. Lamar had stud qb that didnt play nor the starting rb. It almost like week 4 preseason now......what depth do we have?

If they did they were just trying people out. Most of their good D is back.

Yep. Short field scenarios and the limited number of plays make jamboree results limited in meaning.
You have 12 plays, you run 7 and pass 5. You probably aren't putting up a bunch of TDs. Not to mention trying combinations of some of the questionable positions, etc. You aren't game planning to win a 12-play meaningless pre-season event. But it is nice to see your team average 7 yards a carry on one team and 10 on the other rushing.
