Where's everybody going Friday??

Carthage vs Springfield-Central. Worried the Scotties won't perform w/the rain possibilities.

Lafayette @ Savannah I believe. Broadcasting (weather permitting) on mecsports.tv

I will be home watching it rain seein how they moved the Maryville game to Thursday night at 6 pm at Bishop Leblond. Maybe be able to catch a webcast game on the pc?

I'll be at Poo watching Poo v Camdenton...Unless I get the call to go with the softball team to Jeff City for their tourney. Not that it has anything to do with it, but softball could possibly get me out of afternoon PD. Boy, I'd hate to miss that.

I will be in Plattsburg to watch East Buc tomorrow. Going to West Platte tonight to watch East Buc play in a Jr. High game.

Hey, it may not be the highest level game of the night.. but it should be a competitive game.

I'm looking forward to it personally. Depite their 0-3 record, Cabool has played much better this year, compared to last year. A 2-point loss to 2A Jefferson, 23-point loss to 3A Hollister, and a 1-point loss to 2A Willow Springs. Cabool had an 18-0 lead on Willow, but some costly turnovers hit them big in the last 15 minutes of game play.
Houston however, has had a worse start to the year than they normally do. Losing a combined 77-0 in their first two games of the year, while slightly impressing last week with Salem, keeping it fairly close.

FS Southside vs. Greenwood. Large/small school annual match-up that the little guy has had the upper hand in since I've moved down here. Greenwood DESTROYED FS Northside last week at home.

Is Greenwood a small school power in Arkansas I'm assuming? or is it just with the Fort Smith schools that they really get up and take it to them? just curious.

Man Cards, had no clue you lived down there. Always assumed you were an STL guy. How do you like that area? Have some buddies a bit north in NWA and they just love it.

Are you covering this game or going as an interested fan?

Just an interested fan. I was a sportswriter once upon a time, covered football, volleyball, basketball, baseball, cross-country, track, tennis, but those days are behind me.. for now. I've contemplated getting back into it on a part-time basis, just for football season mainly. But I would have to wait until next season if I decide to.

I'm going to watch two classic powerhouse programs battle it out in Polo as Polo takes on Gallatin. My NWMO small ball tour rolls on

I wouldn't call Polo a classic powerhouse program..
Gallatin yes, Polo... Not so much. They've been much better the last 5 years or so but.. Just my opinion.

You must be going to retro night. They removed the A's after the class names years ago

I have absolutely no knowledge on either team's history (although I wouldn't be uninterested in hearing it) my comment was more in jest than anything. Regardless, Polo has averaged 60.3 pts per game so far which is the main reason why I wanna check em out. I'll be traveling up from KC and just wanna see some entertaining small school ball.

I'm from the SCA area and figured when I moved to KC I'd be interested in checking out the larger schools, but I can't help but prefer C3 and under!

I hear you there. The best place to find that in NWMO is the GRC/KCI imo. The MEC has been pretty one-sided for the last 8 years or so.
Granted, the GRC has changed quite a bit the last decade with Tarkio, Albany, and King City dropping to 8 man(not that they were major players by any means, except for King City, some years) and Penney leaving to go to the KCI.
Rock Port was also kicked out of the GRC sometime in the early to mid 2000's. 04? 05?

Some of the best rivalries you'll see up there will be Maysville/Gallatin, Gallatin/South Harrison, and everyone in that conference seems to always hate Princeton.
East Buch/Mid Buch is always a good rivalry game to go to, though East Buch has dominated as of late.
Polo has always been one of the wild card/middle of the pack teams in the GRC. Some years that have really good ball clubs, but generally they're fairly average.

Back in 2007 the GRC was loaded though, that was a good year for Class 1 Football in NWMO. Princeton, South Harrison, Gallatin, and Maysville all ended up in the Class 1 Top ten in the Final Poll(Can't remember if that was media or mosports or both). That year, Gallatin, South Harrison, and Princeton were all in the same district under the old format so there were 8-2 and 9-1 teams not getting into the playoffs.
It ended with Princeton beating Maysville 28-26 in Sectionals. Princeton eventually lost to Orrick in the Semis.

With all the losses to the conference, there have been additions since then. I believe Putnam County, Milan, Trenton and maybe another?.

Even Polo isn't an original GRC team if I'm correct, I believe when they kicked Rock Port out, they brought Polo in.

Polo @ Maysville is next week I believe, and that's a game I would want to attend. I'm not saying it's going to go either way, but i think will be a much better game.

Maysville's stadium reminds me a lot of the Pit in Cabool. Nice high school football atmosphere.

Yes, Greenwood is a small school powerhouse, and yes, they get up more for the Fort Smith teams. If I'm not mistaken, Mizzou has offered the current Greenwood QB. He's a stud.

Moved down here 3 years ago. Absolutely love the area. Still kiss the ground when we make it up to God's country every now and again though. For a 'city' around the size of Columbia, Fort Smith has just about everything you could want. Only thing lacking IMO is a vibrant night life for the 20 and 30 somethings. Us elder folks have some great bars w/live music and good food too.

NWA is cool to visit on occasion, but the infrastructure can't support the growth to this point. We find ourselves going to Tulsa more than NWA.

I don't know as much about Arkansas football as I should for living down there for a few years. But I was in the Conway/Little Rock area.
I did read a book probably about a 8 years or so ago called Year of the Dog I believe. It's buried in one of my boxes somewhere.
It was about Mitch Mustain, Ben Cleveland, Williams, etc and their coach Gus Malzahn and their final season at Springdale before the city split into two schools.
It also focused a lot on Mustain's recruitment by Houston Nutt and a lot of the supposed shadiness behind the whole situation. It was a good read.
