So whatever happened to "Norwood's" (w/ Hartville pulling strings) Public vs Private petition? Did it ever gain any steam or did it get shot down or is it still up for a vote? I couldn't find anything else on it.

They realized, unlike in politics, the very small group of people who are crying, don't outweigh the majority of people who don't want something.

Actually it did in this case since the petition went away due to private school crying.

LOL. Funny how public schools are the ones crying to get something done, and when it doesn't you say its because the private schools cried. Trust me, the private schools didn't cry cause they know they don't have to, and that a majority of public schools don't want this to every happen. I think the group of public schools who really want this, should start their "every one deserves a trophy" state title.

everyone doesn't play by the same rules, so i'm not sure this qualifies. Aren't you the one that sends kids to private school? I wonder what horse you are betting on.

Im one of those who went to public high school and who agrees with many of the public high school coaches who have great program and great athletes and all great athletes want to play against other great athletes great teams, not matter private or public. That have that "it" drive. Sorry you, your school, whatever it is, I don't even care which one so I won't ask, and probably your kids don't have that.

you don't sound elitist at all. Shocked.

just put on a 3x multiplier, and we will still get to play those great athletes that were handpicked from a large geographical area to assemble an all star team. They will just have to be in the largest class, or one significantly larger than their current enrollment. Is it the same competition if there are different rules? that way your kids who go to a handpicked school can still play us public school nobodies. I'm good with 3x.

LOL. And then you will still not be happy. Now that won't shock me either.

Awwwwwwww. Lol. How does it feel to always be in the minority there buddy. You know, your crying might get you somewhere in California. Wanna move?

I'm probably more conservative than you politically. That's not what this is.

Oh I doubt that. Well we both have something in common. But I guess im just a bit stronger conservative, who strives on competition. And if you don't think there is a different set of rules even among public schools your not a very smart conservative either.

Must be nice to be born on third base and think you hit a triple. :) Not going to tell us what school your private schoolers attend? Don't worry, I'm not anywhere near a metro area. Just po'dunk.

Ohhhhh good. WHEN my kids get to high school, and we end up beating your school in post season whatever school you are, Ill look up in the stand and Ill know which one you are by the tissue in your hand. Ill say, "hey I know that guy" And I don't live in st. louis county.

lol...were you the bully in school? If not, you are picking up the slack now. Don't worry, I have thick skin. So nice of you to model how to debate things in a decent thought out manner instead of playground bully methods...or not. No telling how many school kids are reading this. I hope you don't instill this type of discussion with them too.

Ok fine, I won't say "i know that guy." Thick skin? LOL. Who are the ones who keep bringing up this topic and threads...

If i have to hear another "I want to beat the best to be the best" i will puke. The large public schools who want to compete w/ the privates are the same schools who have well over 1500 kids and still get busing. Those schools should play the private schools - no doubt. But to listen to people talk about how things are equal makes me laugh. The system is flawed - especially when you look at how big of an area some schools pull kids in from and how they pick and choose the MSHSAA guidelines that suit them. Not all who see it want a trophy - just an opportunity that makes sense and is fair to the kids.

Thick skin against what most would call bullying...also by bringing up a topic of discussion, not sure how to correlates to toughness. "Suck it up if you want to compete"...okkaaaaayyyy

Pretty sure it's Borgia. It has come up before.

Oh geesh. should have known you were going to cry out sooner or later. Borgia was the topic you were discussing before at that time. And remember, I thought you were from Sullivan. You are that public school teacher right from wherever.

Did you vote? No private schools have voted yet...posted it for you. Looks like you were right on the majority :) maybe in the “new math”

On the agenda at the Jan 24 MSHSAA Board meeting:

A -3.Certification of Petitions to be placed on the Annual Ballot - Urhahn

I have seen no minutes of the meeting so I do not know what petition(s) they were.
The ballot does not go out to administrators until April 1st for a month long voting period.

My tears are like Chuck Norris' tears. Too bad I don't cry either. But, yes, I do teach. In a public school.

Its simple, open the borders. I have seen the non-public (as MSHSAA labels it now) win with new rosters every year vs public schools. Lets stop complaining to MSHSAA, lets open the borders in the state and then anyone can recruit. When you get to the poorer schools in the state it will help with education also. Imagine if the neighboring school has a great band program and your child loves band, vo-tec, ag, etc. It wouldn't only benefit sports programs in the playoffs but it would benefit education.
