What was the farthest you travel for a high school football game?

As a player KC to Tulsa OK. As a HS fan Harrisonville, MO to St Louis x 6, Augusta KS x 1, Rogers Arkansas x 1, Hannibal x 3. As a college fan Harrisonville, MO to Little Rock x 2, Dallas Tx (Cotton Bowl).

Harrisonville, Clinton, St Louis are some of the farthest I have traveled, But we did open against California MO one year, that seemed like one heck of a drive from Monett on a yellow school bus.

Adrian to Perryville. Twice. For a college game... Maryville to Florence Alabama, more times than I'd care to remember including twice in six days.

As a spectator/parent: St. Louis to Joplin

As a player: Portland Tx to Edinboro. Portland , TX to New Bransfels

As a coach: none worth mentioning really. Seems like when we’d get into the playoffs, we’d luck out on distant opponents having to come to us. Maybe from Festus to Zumwalt?
Then get booted in the first round? Preventing any longer distances to travel?

As a fan. Weston to St. Louis for 2 state title games. As a player, Weston to Salisbury, MO. And as a college fan. I’ve only went on 1 roadtrip to watch NW play. Went from Maryville to Pittsburg, KS for a game

Left Cleveland, Mo. on a bus at 5:30 am arrived in Murfreesboro, TN at 5:15pm for a 7pm HS Football game. That same night I left Murfreesboro, TN at 10:45 pm in a Buick and arrived in Drexel, Mo. at 9:05 am for a Volleyball game.

As a fan, the longest was 13 hours to Steubenville, OH. If you’re ever out that way, it’s well worth the trip; Harding Stadium is an electric atmosphere on Friday nights, packed with 10,000+ fans on a weekly basis.

After that was a four hour trip and a few two hour trips.

Only did the drive to Florence once. Flew the other times.

On HS level Maryville - Mcluer (St Louis) played a home and home. Has to be record for an instate regular seasonseries. 520 miles roundtrip.

Speaking of Ohio. I’ve been to Paul brown Tiger Staidum in Massillon and Fawcett up at the HOF in Canton. One of these years I’m going to get up that way and see a Massillon-Washington vs Canton-McKinley game.

For High school, not that far actually. Probably Louisiana. That was a drive back then. We were in a downturn after Robert Long left until the year after I graduated.

On a whim, some buddies and I drove to Dallas to see SMU play on campus in 1990. Forrest Gregg was in his only year as their AD, and we walked through his empty parking spot to get into the stadium. Rice was the opponent, so the stadium was far from full, yet somehow one of my buddies scored seats for us in the student section. Amazing. Like a 8,000 person cocktail party. Got invited to go to the historic West End section of Dallas, which at least then was block after block of various clubs within bars. Slept it off in the car and drove home the next day. Fun times.

Miller to Thayer and Valle. Don't know which is farther but both are over 3 hrs and have made them several times.

Both of those are great stadiums as well. Steubenville and Massillon has made for some great games over the years, and Massillon-McK is a game every high school football fan should see before they die. It’s probably the greatest rivalry in the country, all things considered.

HS .... Webb City to St Louis
College ... Pittsburg KS to Florence , Alabama

I’ve heard it’s one of the greatest rivalries. I’ll go to that game someday. I’ve also been to Ratliff Stadium down in Odessa, TX. This past summer.

I watched that documentary about 15 years back or so called: Go Tigers! It followed Massillon-Washington for a year.

One of my best friends from the military lives up in Ohio and probably next year I’ll visit in the fall and can hopefully watch my first Ohio high school game. I’ll have to look into Steubenville as well.

The longest i’ve travelled to watch a high school football game would be from Webb City to St. Louis but several years ago when traveling to see Oklahoma-Texas game I went to watch Allen Texas play the night before.

Not the farthest by miles but seemed like it took forever.
Coaching at a kcmo district...went to California for a jambo on yellow bus. On the way home the bus wont go faster than 35 mph. It was probably 2 or 3 am when i headed down Independence avenue to make the trek home to God's country.
Thats an interesting drive at that time on a Friday night.

Let's not forget Savannah travelled all the way to Oklahoma for their filler game vs. Bishop LeBlond this year

Lexington to Monroe City for Sat aft play off game. Chillicothe to Cassville for a sat aft play off game.. on a school bus. We lost, and everyone on the fans bus with me wanted to know why we lost. I wanted to yell at them to leave me alone, but I didnt lol.

I believe there are several folks on here that have been to the Texas HS State championships. If you haven’t been you should consider it. ATT stadium is an awesome place to watch the games. 40K to 50k fans attend the big divisions.

Did you catch that Duncanville/North Shore game last season?
Never seen anything like it. Many say the best high school football game ever.
No as I haven’t made it back for a couple years now. Glad you were able to take in a classic.
