He could have replaced Tua when he got hurt. Would they have made the playoff?

Would OU have won as many games without him?

This is a really interesting thought. I think OU would have been in a similar situation as how it turned out with Hurts. Riley does a good job of catering the offense to the skillet of the QB in charge and Mordecai is a pretty good QB in his own right (though I think Spencer Rattler will be the guy for OU going forward). I think what would have happened is that Bama might have made it into the playoff ahead of OU because they would have beaten Auburn.

Ou plays bums all year then gets thumped

Nd-ish.

Theyd be 5th in sec
Lsu
Bama
Auburn
Uga

this...that's why they would never accept an invite to the sec. theyd never make a playoff game again.

Funny... and something expected from your previous posts... Now, would OU win the league as much as the do the Big 12? Certainly NOT... But they would contend most every year and win their share....

Both interesting questions and ones that Sooner fans have talked about...
No doubt Bama would have been better off, if he had stayed..
As far as Oklahoma, Hurts did some stuff that should not be forgotten, but some fans at OU have been screaming for Rattler all year, they would different.. would have thrown the ball better, but hard to say that they would have had better result, way too much of the unknown.

What year would they have won the sec

No kidding. Oklahoma already recruits at a national level. Give Florida, Georgia, and Texas kids more incentive to potentially go to Oklahoma and then these people act like the Sooners would/could never compete.

Ignorance or trolling, idk which.

yes im consistent with my thoughts...most of the time.;) ou is great program,a blueblood if you may. but contending and making the top 4 are two different things. expand to 8? yes then i believe they could make that. but like i said the big 12 gives them a much easier path to the 4 plus neither texas nor ou wants give up the red river. im not an ou hater by any means. if im going to watch a big 12 game its usually ou.

they already recruit nationally, they already get their texas blue chippers. they already get the midwests top players and yet still either dont make the top 4 or get hammered in the semi. several more southern kids arent going to get them over that hump and remember those schollies would knock out all the others i mentioned above. only so many schollies to go around. ou is geographically challenged in trying to out recruit bama auburn lsu florida georgia etc. not their fault just the way it is.

The right "southern kids" and playing an SEC schedule would get them over the hump.

Would they be in the playoff every year? No, would they consistently be in the running? Absolutely.

Saban won't be at Alabama forever.

Ultimately this entire exercise is a moot point because it's highly unlikely Oklahoma will ever reside in the SEC.

So it boils back down to, would you rather be Oklahoma and have a shot at the playoff every year, recruit nationally, and have all eyes on you (even if you do get blown out)?

Or Mizzou who's outlier "great" seasons would be considered the norm or worse at Oklahoma, but be able to thump your chest about losing to an SEC schedule and have the SEC revenue stream?

That's quite a question, would you rather go 6-6 against great competition or 12-2 against good competition?

The original question also had nothing to do with Oklahoma playing or competing in the SEC, conversations evolve.
