Huge game from the big 2 in Joplin.
Pretty sure this ends that Westmoreland/Maclin debate.

Like I said if the jerseys didnt say Joplin and these numbers were put up by a Stl class 6 player then there would be big time offers attached to said player.

Blue Springs also lost so it looks like its gonna happen.

Westmoreland very physical and talented at WR.....
very impressed with Isaiah Davis as well, South Dakota state getting a very talented, hard nosed player.

Yeah, Davis had 20 carries for 309 yards and 6 TD's. Nesslage, the Kirkwood QB, was 44-51 for 538 yards and 7 TD's...Wow! Not much defense going on in Joplin tonight.

The big schools know him. He visited Oklahoma

Joplin's D has been not very good all season. If they hit someone who can slow down Davis, they're toast. May or may not happen but that's all it would take.

He didn’t have many yards against Webb,,, but when you get the ball on the 30 it’s hard to break a very long run lol

As much as I hate Joplin would love to see them win out just to shut up some people :)

love not hate

And apparently Missouri State didnt even show interest. That alone should be Steckel’s last straw!

thats an awfully dirty terd to polish. not sure if even jesus himself could save that program.

i would say maclin is more explosive and west is more elusive. but that comes with the bodytype. give me west all day long,he does everything for the team on every almost every unit.

Zach is really physical for a wr . He breaks alot of tackles ..gets tons of yac yards and has great instincts and vision . He's fast too but not elite fast. His ball skills and instincts are incredible though . He's IMO a top 3 wr from Southwest Missouri in the last 15ish years . Hell of a safety to boot

Apparently don’t have to have blazing speed if you knock the crap out of people trying to tackle you lol

Westmoreland's lack of more offers doesn't have anything with where he plays. He competed in the Opening in STL in the spring and ran a 4.75 in the 40. I think that is why you will not him getting higher level offers. It doesn't matter though, he got one from SIU and will have the opportunity to play at the next level.

Yeah, I think that definitely hurt him. He's definitely faster than that. He runs track and performs well. His game speed is very good. I don't think I've seen someone chase him down as a receiver and he catches nearly everyone as a safety. He doesn't have elite speed, but I would say he's in the 4.5's, which is good enough for his size and abilities.

I don't know his mental makeup or anything like that but I know a good football player when I see it . Sometimes they aren't tall enough , heavy enough , fast enough etc but are way better football players than other people with the measurables that get better offers .

Example : Zeke Wall from CJ. He was a 4 year starter for them and virtually unlockable . He made several of Webb's D-1 lineman look stupid . But he was only like 6'1 at best . During his playing years I remember Webb playing against Springdale Har-Ber and they had Alabama committ Josh Frasier (6'6 330#) Webb game planed to run right at him . Against CJ they did everything possible to avoid Wall . Frasier started a few years for Alabama ...not sure what became of him ...Wall started as a true freshman for Pitt State and will be an All American before it's all said for

Yeah measurables are. It's funny to see people say SWMO is slept on in terms of recruiting when DGB was a number 1 recruit when he played in SWMO. Teams don't care where you play. If you put up good combine numbers in the spring, you will get attention.

I'd say Dylan Cole from Logan Rogersville is another good example. He was a freak on the field but not d-1 or NFL big . However he's played for the Texans for like 8 years now

Location doesn't matter much . Size and speed does though . You can teach someone to be a better football player , you can't teach them to be huge and fast . I graduated with a kid that was 6'7" 265 ish . He never started a snap for Webb City ...he got a full ride to Pitt State and started 3 years

People over estimate speed all the time. 4.5 is elite speed in high school. Hell, there are RBs and WRs that don’t run that fast at the combine and still get drafted.

What’s his 100m time in track?

He actually plays at a 4.7 speed too. But my post still stands as their are many guys who are not elite speed playing D1. I think his future is at Safety or OLB anyway not WR.

this argument doesnt hold up. DGB is one of the 10 most gifted High School Athletes in the last 25 years physical freak.

if a 6’1 200lbs WR/DB scored 50+ TDs over 2 years and also played safety at an all state level for a STL school he would have D1 offers.

I could make a very long list of 4.6+ st louis guys with D1 offers and none are as gifted as Westmoreland

He reminds me a bit of Rod Smith , MSSU receiver was not big or quick enough to be picked in the NFL draft. Seems you can’t quantify great route running , hands, and a god given skill for being the guy that always comes down with the ball.

Denver gave him a chance and him and John Elway lit it up for a pair of Super Bowl rings. Career cut short by career ending hip injury and his number is retired on the ring of honor in Denver.

Sadly, it has become about height, weight, speed. 6'1 or 6'2 with a 4.7 time will not get you FBS offers no matter where you are from. If he were a bit taller or a tick faster he would have the offers. Plenty of STL kids have fallen in this same boat and have had to attend other programs after a lack of FBS interest. Those kids have balled out and shown that they were bigger than their measurables and Westmoreland will probably do the same.
