West Platte Football Petition

Nobody is denying anybody their constitutional rights by ignoring their petition. If they were arrested for drawing up a petition, that would be the case. A school board has to make a lot of tough decision that may or may not be popular. It's what they're elected to do. They shouldn't fire someone based on a petition, and they shouldn't retain someone based on a petition.

Agree 100%.

Same type of situation happen in Maryville in 2005. School board fired the football coach (for good reason) yet you had students (and parents) protesting the situation. Kids walked out of school and marched all the way up to the city square.

Sometimes school officials have to do the right thing not the popular thing.

And a lot of the times school boards Do the popular thing amongst them, but not the right thing for the coach and the program.

Even...if they let him go. Even if God in Heaven above comes down and points his hand at the WP side of the field. Even if every man, woman and child held hands together and prayed for WP to win, it just wouldn't matter, because all the really good players still live in Lathrop, Maryville and Lawson. IT JUST DOESN't Matter! IT JUST DOESN't Matter! IT JUST DOESN't Matter!

True, but the guy who started this thread was only talking about the last 2 to 3 years, wasn't he?
JN said above that it won't matter what WP does because the good players will still live in those other places. I was merely pointing out that there is no reason to believe that will be true.

Sad to see it happen, because how can you not like Weston. But I really think jn Point is valid, at least for the time being. Not much moving in there. And the new facilities are too NOTCH

No, I think in small towns, it can come in waves. When a Class 4 or below school can field some D1s, they can be game-changers. The 1996 Excelsior Springs team was almost entirely future D2 MIAA starters, and some All-Americans. That doesn't happen, often. Gets more random the smaller the school is--in terms of the talent pools. Bad runs can last for a few years.

Heck you guys got rid of a coach last year. Basketball right, maybe I'm wrong on sport. Heard about it at sectional track. Not long ago pretty much got rid of every coach on staff. And yes Maryville did get rid of that coach. Not bad coach but board members got ticked off that he didn't report something but it was one of his players screwing another one of his players mom. He didn't want it to split the team.

Basketball yes we did before last year. But he was leaving anyway for a different job, so we brought in Coach Nichols from Lafayette. And no we have never had more than 1 coach opening in the same year. The things you are saying about West Platte are incorrect. There are other reasons this is happening with Thomas right now.

The other reasons being?

I doubt if it was just some kid screwing a random mom he would not of been fired. Fact is that mom was a teacher for the high school and withheld it is what got him fired.

Fyi the student in the relationship was not a football player. But the mom son was the QB of the team and Pelser did not want the distraction of it being public till after playoffs were over.

School board did the right thing IMO.

WP is so political it isn't funny. Anybody going there better expect not to be there long. They change coaches faster than Donald Trump changes porno stars.
Go on.

Nothing currently. Saw Coach Thomas at a basketball game last week so he is still employed at West Platte. But no word on his situation for next year. But personally I wouldn’t be shocked if he isn’t back next year at this moment.
