West Plains @ Webb City

WC hit a few big passes but could have run for 400 yards tonight if they had needed to. WP wasn't going to stop them. Still WP did have a couple players that brought the wood.

I'm thinking the coaches challenged they players this week and boy did they respond.

LOL word. I thought the best play all night was the deep pass down the right side going north. The Zizzer crowd erupted when the BS penalty was on WEBB for offensive pass interference so JROD called the exact same play, BOOM..........Kinda said right there we can do whatever we want. If WEBB doesnt beat themselves I think it would take a team like CBC or the SEC west champ to beat them.

I turned the game off when it was 28-0. Up to that point it was pass pass pass pass for all of your touchdowns. And there was one rushing touchdown. So all of this rushing must have came after that.

It was pass, pass, pass, pass. That is a weakness that WC knew they could exploit. What good coach doesn't exploit a weakness until the opponent stops it?

You turned the game off? You didn't come? You do all that talking & then you don't make the trip? What a putz! Saw the final stats in the paper this morning. WC finished with 475 yds of offense, 268 yds rushing, 207 yds passing. WC's Burroughs had 116 yds rushing. He only played in the first half. So, how do you like your cro?

He shut the game off says it all! He was in the bathroom throwing up thinking about the crow he was going to be eating.

I wonder if this is the guy who posted the picture on facebook saying that webb needed to pucker up and kiss their winning streak goodbye?

Kinda seems like they would be the samr guy, based on this thread.

Would've thought a guy would have a better reply than "I quit watching".

You were wrong, wrong, wrong about everything. It happens.

Anybody think playing "up" helps a team more than playing "down"? The answer is, it depends. Didn't seem to be the case for West Plains. Webb scored on every first half possession for the 42-0 halftime lead. Not one single stop by the "chaotic" defense. And on the other side of the ball, they rarely even picked up a first down.

And let's also not forget that "pass, pass, pass, pass" was not only exploiting a weakness but also reminding future opponents that last week against CJ was an aberration. "Sure, load the box if you want, but this is what will happen to you."

If I'm Harrisonville / Cape Central / Kearney, I'm seeing last night's film and feeling completely deflated because I think I know how to stop this iteration of the Webb offense and then they come out slinging.

I had posted this basic thought before the game saying I was curious to see if Coach Rod would call some passes early to keep WP D honest. After watching the WC vs CJ film teams might think they would use the same game plan. Anybody sitting in the stands understood why it was very difficult to pass. That does not carry through on film.

If Coach Rod put the blame on himself for calling a bad game against CJ, he was brilliant Friday night. Throwing when he WANTED not when NEEDED and using a lot of the playbook.

Yea, let's not forget that I was at work until 915. I usually only get to listen to the first half of the game since I started work down here 6 weeks ago. Then afterwards I get to watch the film. But thank you guys.

I'm not talking crap on that strategy, it worked, why would I?
I'm saying that it was not the traditional run you over option ground and pound that We're used to seeing from Webb start to finish.
They got up early on by throwing the ball, not by running all over WP for 300+ yds like some poster earlier in the week had stated. That is all.
I'm not trying to take anything away from the cardinals, there's nothing to take away, they went out Friday night and got the Zs back up against the wall early and controlled the game.

I think the Webb City coaching staff always has the ability to shake things up from what you see on film. They always seem to out-think their opponents' strategy. Buckmaster certainly took a great stab at it--but Coach Rod, Smitty and Company are high school football masterminds.

Chaotic, thats the problem with trying to be honest people take it as your being disrespectful. Not saying youre taking my posts that way but if you are its not intended. WEBB has ran the same offense more or less of 25 years. Sure theyve mixed in different schemes here and there but basically have tried to stick with what has made them what they are. Fantastic line play along with very good running backs and good decision making QBs is the key. WEBB has been very fortunate to have all these on a continuos cycle. Cycle, kinda like Kolesen Crane his daddy was on WEBBs first State Championship team and I believe still has the record for most tackles in the championship game with 22. The kids grow up with it in their blood, literally LOL. Can WEBB be stopped, beaten, absolutely everyone can and will eventually. If the QB center exchanges are clean I dont believe our leading running back can be held under 100 let alone the team. I dont have any idea what the team stats are but its unusual for WEBB players to have crazy high numbers in any stat line because a huge focus is getting the next man up as much experience as we can afford to get them. I hope for a great game as Ive said being on the sidelines makes it much better. Just winning even like last friday was great for the win but the play was tough be excited about.

HEY CHAOTIC HERES MY POST ITS ON PAGE 2. UNEDITED OF COURSE. I DID HOWEVER SAY IN THE POST ABOVE THIS ONE ON PAGE 2 AS WELL (FEEL FREE TO REREAD ITS EASIER KEEPING YOUR FOOT DRY) ABOUT THE CJ GAME, "IN CASE YOU MISSED IT WEBB HAD 300 RUSHING YARDS WP AINT STOPPING THAT". I nowhere said "WEBB WILL RUN IT DOWN WESTPLAINS THROAT". I WILL NOW, THEY COULDA. I SIMPLY SAID WESTPLAINS AINT STOPPING THEM AND GUESS WHAT THEY DIDNT..

42-0 at the half says Webb could do anything they wanted last night. I'm not taking anything away from West Plains but when Webb is clicking, it's going to be a long night for any opponent.

You keep trying to hang your hat on that 300 yards comment, you do realize we had one runner #40 with 116 yards in 1/2 a game. Had our #1's stayed in the game WC would have gained over 400 yards on the ground! Face it you were 100% wrong on every post and claim.

It was obvious Webb was toying with West Plains when they threw the half-back pass and then picked up the fumble on the onside kick. One Webb player interviewed on KY3 said they saw the pucker up sign. I have a feeling a lot of what Webb did was predicated on the trash being thrown around. Webb was sending a message. It's a message the rest of the State doesn't want to hear.
