West Plains 50 - Whitfield 37 (FINAL)

Thought they were in trouble when Whitfield had a burst to start the 3rd

Congrats to the Lady Zizzers, quite a run! I doubt we see a team that is such an example of a one man show for a long time. Ashon Judd is a monster.

I have heard some rumors of Womack retiring after this. Would seem like a good way to go out.

Did Judd's dad play at West Plains?
He played for WP in the mid to late 90s.
in his 3 years of varsity WP went 73-17
He was 1st team All-State and All District and was also conference POY in back to back years.
His senior year(1996) he led WP to finish 2nd at state in Class 4, losing to the title game to Webster Groves 53-46 at the Hearnes Center in Columbia

He took his talents to MSU-WP(SMS-WP)was the first Zizzer to play there.
Was apart of the Grizzly team that scored the most points in a season in school history(that record still stands) his sophomore year(1997-98 I believe).
helped lead them to their first Region 16 championship.
He took his talents up to MSU(SMS) and was a member of their Sweet 16 team in the late 90s.

as of a few years ago, he was still second in MSU-WP history for most 3s made in a season with 105 his sophomore year And 2nd for most made in a career(2 years) there. 2nd for best 3P% in a career at 42.3%, 2nd for most steals in a game(8) and 2nd for most steals in season(88)

he was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame 7-8 years ago.

WP boys and girls basketball were both very good in the mid to late 90s.

He should get credit for staying loyal to WP. Lots of parents who played in college themselves would have moved to Springfield and had their kid play for Kickapoo or even play for a St. Louis private.

He is West Plains through and through. Mr. Zizzer. He was a teammate of Fontleroy at SMS when they went to the Sweet Sixteen under Steve Alford.

So I was looking today, Ashton Judd averaged 26 ppg headed into the QF against CJ

she scored 27 against CJ, 20 against Smithville and 30 in the title game against Whitfield

that comes out to 25.6 ppg in the playoffs. Pretty damn consistent with the rest of the season.

She is 6-1 and plays like a guard. Not many high school players can match up with that.

Yes, I recall Eric Judd from that time period. I distinctly remember his post-game press conference after the Zizzers lost to Webster Groves in the title game.

Quite a turnaround for the Zizzers both seasons against Kickapoo. Usually, it was Roy Green doing that to other teams.
