Welcome back

Lack of major league defense the first two innings blew this game.
What the heck was Wong thinking? He should have been backing up the throw to second, not running in from RF like he was supposed to be taking the throw. I think he confused Gyorko and he tried to lead him to the bag.

From what Gyorko said he thought Wong was supposed to be covering. There was no prior communications as to who was covering. Little league stuff.

Before that a runner, and not a fast one, tagged at first and went to second on a fly ball to CF. How can that happen? It wasn't at the wall and Fowler wasn't on the run when he caught it. He just didn't get in good throwing position and didn't get much on it. It was still relatively close. He stood out there and looked like he was shocked the runner ran. Then Pham gets one right to him and can't throw it withing 15 feet of home plate. That runner was out easily if the throw is withing Yadi's reach. That's all little league stuff too. It seems outfielders are more worried about just getting rid of it than actually making an accurate throw with something on it. You rarely saw Jimmy Edmonds just catch and heave. He always got lined up and threw it online with something on it. I guess that's one reason he has some gold gloves.

That game could have been a lot different if the available outs had been made. But they weren't and it had a definitely affect on Leake. They can say he gave up too many hits but how many of those should have been outs or came after 3 outs should have already been made? I wonder if Quendo yells at his TV as much as I do or has he just quit watching like I did after the 2nd.

Stubby for Mgr. and play the Memphis kids can't get any worse. Now Leake says he hasn't got his strength back from shingles. If true lets get Weaver up here to take his place and let Leake get his strength back. Best thing that could happen to this team would be to go to Chicago and get swept and put the Birds out of their misery. 1 step Forward and 2 back is getting old. Go Birds!!! Let's beat the Mets and then sweep the Cubs and make me look like the idiot I am.

Agreed on the runner tagging from 1st. I was not a happy camper when that happened either. I haven,'t seen anything out of Fowler to make me think he's defensive upgrade like we were told and he sure ain't hittin too well either. He had good stretch right before his heel started bothering him, m=now not so much. Did the Cardinals know about his heel issues when they got him?

I can't remember who was running but he was way off the base as if he had no intentions of tagging and it appeared like he remembered who was in CF and scrambled back just as Fowler caught it and took off. The look on Fowler's face was as if he couldn't believe it either. I don't know about the heel. I don't see him as an above average fielder either. But remember, he's COOL.
