Nixa is probably the best team in the COC this year, just like last year. But the best team in the COC is rarely good enough to be anywhere near the best team in C6 in MO.For years the springfield sports media does a circle-j around Nixa hyping them as the team to beat. Last year was maybe the best team they've ever had and they barely beat the worst Carthage team in 20 years and a well below average Webb City team by one TD. They didn't make a dent in class 6 playoffs - only beat Ozark and Joplin. And a lot of those key players are gone. They've got a good coach and their talent pool is absurd but until I see them actually winning those games against Rock and other top C6 teams I don't get all the hype even if they have an olympian on their roster.
My Webb friends got a good laugh hearing these Nixa folks last year during the conf realignment talking about how they need to keep room on the schedule for some big national ranked teams from Florida or wherever now that they've won the COC like once and have a resume of being C5 state runner up 10 years ago. Just seems like they're getting the cart ahead of the horse to me.
Or maybe I'm ignorant to what others are seeing. Guess we'll find out soon enough!
When I was the president of the Ampipe booster club, team meals were a thing EVERY Thursday night. The meal before the first game of every season? You guessed it. STEAK! Never pass up a good opportunity to bring the community together. More importantly, a great photo op during an election year
The depth up this way is my main interest (Liberty, BS South among others) but looks, again, like Liberty North and LS North are the big time powers coaching change at the latter being the only real "variable" I see.Nixa is probably the best team in the COC this year, just like last year. STL side, from a distance, looks again to be among the privates i.e. CBC and DeSmet. Will defer to those (way) more in the know over that way, though. The depth up this way is my main interest (Liberty, BS South among others) but looks, again, like Liberty North and LS North are the big time powers coaching change at the latter being the only real "variable" I see.

Sucks when you can only field a team within your gov't set boundaries. LolNixa is probably the best team in the COC this year, just like last year. But the best team in the COC is rarely good enough to be anywhere near the best team in C6 in MO.
Speaking only about C6...but the C6 COC schools aren't competing with public school C6 schools in KC. At least not regularly.Sucks when you can only field a team within your gov't set boundaries. Lol
Go on.Webb fielding a team based on gov't boundaries...that would be cool.
If they go maybe 2 more years without a state title it may start to come to thatSpeaking only about C6...but the C6 COC schools aren't competing with public school C6 schools in KC. At least not regularly.

Admittedly I have no clue what the C5 landscape looks like...but what I saw last year just didn't look nearly good enough to consistently compete on a high level. They weren't bad by ANY stretch of the imagination. I just thought they were good, not great. Pretty one dimensional. Struggled on D at times. Can be a bad combo when you get on the wrong side of the scoreboard. If they go maybe 2 more years without a state title it may start to come to that
Nixa and Webb Both gave up 16.9 Points per game. Best two in the COC last year. If thats struggling sign me up! Biggest difference between the Old Ozark Conference and the COC is that teams in the COC have been much better on Defense.Admittedly I have no clue what the C5 landscape looks like...but what I saw last year just didn't look nearly good enough to consistently compete on a high level. Very well could've been two yrs ago I was thinking about with Webb's D. They struggled giving up big plays and their secondary was pretty suspect.Nixa and Webb Both gave up 16.9 Points per game. I think Webb only picked up 3-4 Joplin kids this year and I doubt they make much of an impact. If they go maybe 2 more years without a state title it may start to come to that
The fact that its "only" 3-4 shows the problem and disdain for webb from a lot of the state lolI think Webb only picked up 3-4 Joplin kids this year and I doubt they make much of an impact.

With Carthage, Joplin, Webb, and Carl Junction all within a 10 mile radius I would think it would be unusual if you didn’t have 3-4 kids move in or out each yearYes, they should make those people who chose to move there leave.

Well I imagine everyone around here knows people who have moved there for sports. I can be annoying for the teams that lose good players and families but it's within the rules most of the time. I also know of people who did not physically move there but are showing up in the school and on teams. I don't think this is extremely common but I know for certain it has and is happening.Go on.
Lamar and Seneca may be the 2 beat teams there. I am curious how WC does against Seneca.Lamar just shut out WC in the jamboree at Joplin.
Webb looks slow. Very tall , but slow.
Lamar is... well, Lamar.
Carthage does look good, seemed to average about 15yds per play, although to be honest I did think Nevada looked faster.Carthage looking excellent...which is unusual for their jamboree performances historically.
Lots of scoring for a jamboree.WC scored twice on Seneca
Seneca scored 4 times against WC
my point exactly
I think Webb scored on Lamar after the deep pass that went out at the oneLamar just shut out WC in the jamboree at Joplin.

Thought Nevada looked good against CJ, kind of surprised they didn’t do more against Carthage.Carthage does look good, seemed to average about 15yds per play, although to be honest I did think Nevada looked faster.
I didn’t get there in time to see Nevada play cj but thought Nevada looked pretty good and zippy just way outmatched vs Carthage.Thought Nevada looked good against CJ, kind of surprised they didn’t do more against Carthage.
Starting QB didn't play.I didn’t get there in time to see Nevada play cj but thought Nevada looked pretty good and zippy just way outmatched vs Carthage.
CJs defense came up with a couple good interceptions but otherwise they weren’t really able to do much against Carthage.
Wondered about that, I also meant to mention I was hearing an awful lot of Carthage soph names on plays not the kids who I expect are going to do most of the heavy lifting.Starting QB didn't play.
