I think you will start to see some players going both ways this Friday. I have heard we experienced some injuries on Friday night. We will improve every week and we didn't deserve to win either of the first 2 games. Sure you can say if we didn't turn the ball over then we might have won. Bottom line is we were out played.

I wish the COC and OC could play each other more often, impossible though until playoffs

I understand but I also like that shortly Joplin will be in the COC so now you will have more local match-ups to see here. WC-Joplin-CJ-Carthage-Neosho. Actually no offense to Branson because it is a fine town with a beautiful football stadium but I would take a trade where Pittsburg, KS would be in the COC and Branson would move to the OC.

Also no disrespect to Branson either, but I would like a scenario where Branson was out, and Joplin had two high schools both in the COC :)

No disrespect to Joplin but I wish they would have stayed in the OC.

Why the heck should our kids have to compete with a class6 school in all conference activities??

Well for one thing in just about every other sport WC and Joplin are in the same classification baseball, softball, tennis, soccer, golf, volleyball, cross country, etc and basketball is pretty much right on the line between classes.

Mine are done playing but for students/parents etc from WC,CJ,Carthage or Neosho a drive back from Joplin for a sports event on a Tuesday night is a lot better than a drive back from Branson

Sure WC probably could have won either game if all the turnovers were eliminated. And maybe if they had been able to complete at the 1yd line that would have made a difference - but really you could always say any team might have won a given game if only they had done this or that. The bottom line is that both CJ and Carthage significantly outplayed WC and the scores represent that.

I think it's unfortunate for CJ and Carthage that their wins seem to be largely written off as if WC is the only team that lost of ton of talent. I think CJ and Carthage deserve more credit than that. They both played excellent games against a rival that for now isn't playing at a level that is causing fans to post threads discussing which college and NFL teams WC could beat.

I think thats based off history more than a bunch of WEBBies saying if this or that would have happened. Ive seen the majority of WEBB games the last 25-30 years, sorry 5890 but I remember very few WEBB teams that played like we did against CJ, I did not go to the cTOWN game. With that being said and looking at the scores that you say represents WEBB being significantly outplayed Id say neither team that beat us is that great based on just that. As I said week one CJ didnt look as fast or as agressive as their team last year to me. I heard about the kickoff recovery against Ozark. Great teams slaughter mediocre teams. With WEBB putting the ball on the ground 10+ times in 2 games seems less than even mediocre. Is that bad to say, we were in both games and does that look like we are downplaying the other teams greatness? If you think so, okay I guess I atleast am. You cant honestly say with the competition outside of conference that WEBB has played against the last decade or two and never, repeat NEVER had stats close to as bad as they did against CJ that it was all because CJ is a great team only winning 23-7. Hell one of CJs scores, field goal I believe, Came after WEBB had an interception overturned because of an inadvertnt whistle. WEBB also dropped an easy TD pass on 2nd down to the TE between QB fumbles on 1st and 3rd downs from the 5 with 5 minutes left. We may get a better look at how good CJ is after this week against Pittsburg but it will be their first game and CJs 3rd home game. As for now yawn.....I will believe it and admit I was wrong if I see it in round 2.....

CJ is at Ozark this Friday - they play Pittsburg around week 7 I think.

Webb lost 23-7 to CJ. The Cardinals were rarely in the red zone but true they missed a good chance to cut the lead to a single possession again fairly late. And the inadvertent whistle was among the worst officiating fiascos I've seen in some time.

But we might also note here that CJ had two long touchdowns nullified by holding penalties near the Webb City sideline and both near midfield. And CJ had another 60+ yard run by their QB called back for yet another penalty.

CJ did indeed play better in week two - no turnovers and many fewer penalties. But really Webb didn't seem like much of an overall threat to CJ in week one - a game that was nearly more like 44-14.

A dropped pass or a penalty is no better than a turnover. They both result in no points scored on that play. No one gives credit to the defense for turnovers and everyone things a penalty on a big play is a BS call. The way WC played CJ should have won by 50... But they didn't! They had quite a few issues of there own. In fact they managed just 20 more offensive yards than WC did.

I remember the long Td pass where the dback got blocked blatantly in the open field in the back and was held and the reciever ran wide open for a long TD that was brought back but guess I missed three long ones. I guess some saw it more like a 44-14 blowout I saw it as a home game against a team you havent beaten in 39 years and after one play on offense your up 7-0 Yet could only muster 3 more points in the half and 16 more points total with that amazing momentum to start. I totally think CJ should be happy and excited to beat WEBB why shouldnt they? I just dont think round two will be anything like the first one. Like I was saying WEBB having played the Kearneys, ROCKS, Harbers Jeff Citys etc etc I would like to know the last time their two starting backs were held under 100 yards rushing combined without injuries being involved. I got Pittsburg off Maxpreps, of course it was wrong. Think they should handle Ozark but first road game we will see. I dont wish them bad, I just tell it as I see it my opinion WEBB needs game time and CJ was good but just not as fast or aggresive as last years team was. Guess we will all see in the weeks to come.
