This is a true story & one that I will never forget. Here is what I think sets Webb City apart; about 11 years ago, Webb lost to Carthage in a district game or round 1 playoff game. I think it was 2007. At the conclusion of the game myself and 3 or 4 other coaches were walking to our car we were stuck behind a batch of Webb City boys, probably Jr Hi kids, and they were talking about the game. The specifics here are not exact: One said losing sucks, another blamed the defense, one blamed the offense & turnovers, one blamed penalties. From here forward is exact. Then one of the kids did it, he blamed the refs. At this point one of the 5 or 6 boys, right in the middle, stopped walking, his tone was serious, his voice was stern, and he said; "The refs did not cost us the game, we got beat, we got beat and there is no one to blame, we all have to work harder, lift harder, play harder, run harder and I do not ever want to lose like this team just did". (that is fairly accurate to what he said) This out of the mouth of a 12, 13, 14 year old kid. HE TOTALLY FREAKING GOT IT. I always admire a great program. Webb, Lamar, New England Patriots, so I sort of followed Webb from afar for the next 6 years. In the next 6 years Webb City hardly lost a game & went 87-2. To this day I wish I would have asked that 12, 13 or 14 year old kid his name.

And WC and Kearney have been in the top 5% in size in Class 4 for a long time, in a class that has a 1.85% size differential. Move them up to Class 5, they have less than half as many titles...just saying.

Wht does yur babbling about Karnee and class 5 have to do with the abuve story? Quit puffing up. Nobody cares

I love how the chest beaters talk about their program, and how they expect to win, and their kids are special...hell yeah, you should...you have 1195 kids and your playing schools with 700 in your class.

Was that 'Coach Smith' or his son that put that on the ceiling? I am thinking, and pretty sure it was Cooper that did that, but I could be wrong. (Cooper was not the kid in that group )
