No one on here mentioned Platte County and a Carnie fan has to blabber about it. lol
Big, BIIIIIIG props to the coaching staff. Had the kids ready. Special teams had a plan and executed. Coaches had the kids up after falling 14-0 pretty quick. Easily the best game they played all year
Platte County is a beast and WC could very well lose but I'm proud the Cardinals got this far after finishing the regular season at 3-6.
Webb finally as close to full strength as they
were the first half against Nixa.

Doesn't hurt this was by far the most healthy they have been all year . They were incredibly banged up most of the year
The result of this game wasn't anything Webb's coach did.
executed to perfection. Let the the team get up 14, shows no signs of life and then have Carthage muff a punt and fumble back to back kick offs. Most bizarre sequence of events I’ve seen. Now the 2nd half was a different story. Hope they can find a way to keep the game close next week.
Marriott is better than Palmer was (yep a mouthful) and their WRs are speedier than any I've seen in I don't know how long plus to boot two really outstanding RBs and a great PK. It is all in front of them now...............2003 Kearney kept flashing through my mind tonight thought that would never happen again!
I know one Webb player in particular would have been a major asset for Carthage this season If his family hadn’t moved. And there are a boatload more over the next several years. Not just from Carthage but a lot of area towns. There is a crapload of move in talent that moved roughly 2010-2015 in addition to what was already there, those kids are just now coming through, it will take epic bad coaching to not win most of their games for the next several years.
I cannot wait to see it. Make no mistake tonight has everything to do with my impression of Platte County not knocking anyone. My goodness St. Pius X had their most talented team in I don't know how many years and this happens to them....................
That PC team tonight was 1000x better than the week 2 version I saw. It will take a team that can get pressure with a 3 man front playing a 2 deep safety look to control PCs offense and I don't know if there is one out there. PC defense is stout as well. I had no idea who would win the oft mentioned 92 battle with K but I do know now. Oh my
It was actually 4th and 5. It seems to me, if it’s close, the refs just signal first down. Tell me, when was the last time you saw the refs bring the chains out for a measurement?

Webb City has drastically improved since the jamboree and I’m glad for them. But let’s be honest, the Carthage miscues had more to do with the outcome of this game than stellar play from the Cardinals. Unfortunately, I think they get smoked next week versus Platte County.
So did Carthage end up Netflixing or did Netflix end up Carthaging?
The mistakes by Carthage were unlike anything I’ve ever seen. But you still have to credit Webb defense in the second half for not letting them back. Carthage has made a few blunders this season and still managed to battle back, although nothing like 21 pts worth of fumbles. So two of the last 3 district champ games have started with a 14-0 lead by Carthage.
This was a good lesson for outsiders as to why (for the purposes of football) Carthage hates being 5 miles from Webb city. Not only do they have the game but now they get to hear about it on social media, at work, family functions for the next several weeks. Carthage had a stellar season but it will get overshadowed and forgotten because all everyone and the media will be talking about is Webb city because of the one game.
At the end of the day the Webb crowd gets to hang on to their sense of identity and ask each other “now how many district trophies do we got?”.
For a week then all they will be saying is what the hell did we just watch. They looked like a college team against us. I had no idea how good PC had gotten until last night
Might happen, but the biggest WC vs PC ass whoopin I can remember Webb later about 48 on them in Columbia in a shutout didn’t they???
I guess they owe us one
Just make sure the pc kids are ready to defend themselves after the game if that happens.
Maybe the one positive for Carthage last night was that since it went webbs way no punches were thrown.
I have no dog in that fight, however I would hope that such a prestigious program would know how to lose with class and not meltdown like the CBC crybabies in 23.
This topic came up a few weeks ago when Webb lost at home to Joplin after losing at home to Carthage. The gist I got from the Webb crowd was that losing with class isn’t a real thing. To accept anything but a win is being a loser.
