Heyward hits the ball on the ground. He slaps it around the infield. He has shown no propensity to hit gappers or long balls. He is aggressive as heck on the bases. He plays like a lead off man, which is where Atlanta used him last year. Can we seriously expect him to be the slugger the Cardinal announcers keep saying he will become this season?

I never have been a fan, so I say no.

I think Atlanta wasn't right so much as they had a different strategy.

Shelby's ERA is also a mirage. Look at his peripherals. FIP ERA is closer to 3.5. That's a good starter but not anything like what he's done.

Hayward is frustrating. You look at him and he looks like a guy who could hit 30 HR.

When I look at Heyward I think, "bats are afraid. I ask Jobu to come, take fear from bats. I offer him cigar, rum. He will come."
