Not nearly as prestigious as the Pink and White but still some decent teams.

Miller will be tough to knock off in this one, but maybe Ash Grove can give them a game.

Miller will be a tough out in that one. Ash Grove or maybe Hollister could knock them off. I don't know how Hollister is this year with Bug Bailey graduating and a new coach stepping in.

Mountain Grove hosts a 16-team tournament over the holidays too, but I haven't seen the bracket for it yet. There are usually some solid class 1-4 schools in it.

Thought maybe Ash Grove might be the 2 seed. They throttled Crane by 27 and Hollister beat them by 5. Either way it was seeded pretty accurately.

Yes, Ash Grove should have been a 2 based on that. But then again they only beat Spokane by 3.

That's girls high school basketball for you. So many variables that it makes things pretty unpredictable. I've already seen quite a few scores this season that I would not have predicted.

Crane is built for a long tourney. Defense 1st. They will advance to the championship against Miller and lose by 30.

And last night Hartville the 6 seed beat Salem the 1 seed. So I would say the mountain grove christmas tournament is wide open

The top 4 seeds have played to seed. Semi finals tomorrow night, Miller vs Ash Grove and Hollister vs Sparta, which should be a good one. All four teams won the previous round in convincing fashion, though a young Walnut Grove team gave Miller some fits and Hollister was up only 2 at half vs Crane before a big third quarter put it away. Sparta looked impressive blowing out a previously unbeaten Macks Creek team.

Miller hit some shots in second half to pull away from Ash Grove. 51-29 was the Final. Sparta throttled Hollister in 2nd game. Hollister struggled with Sparta's pressure. I would guess at least 20 turnovers. Sparta vs Miller final should be a good one.

I really didn't know what to expect from them. They are the only Class 4 team in the tournament but had played a pretty weak schedule so far. They have some talent but against Sparta took too many bad shot's and turned the ball over way to much.

Sparta was better prepared and Hollister PG was hampered by a badly sprained ankle. Sparta wins anyway though, they had a good game plan, played good D and got it done. Hollister did take bad shots but also missed layups and open shots they usually make. Got off to a terrible start and went on a run in the second quarter to close it to 8 but wasn't close after halftime.

It seemed at times they were trying to run up and down with Sparta which is what they want. Sparta wants to get out and run and get wide open looks off the fast break. If Miller can make them play half court and work for good looks they have a chance.

Watching Strafford vs Sparta, putting a lot of pressure on their guards will force Sparta to turn it over, and obviously not letting them get out and run, which Strafford did well at preventing. Miller's strength on D works in their favor against a team like Sparta, they won't give up many transition points. Sparta can get hot though from 3 and if so, that's how they'll beat Miller, if it happens, which it likely wont.

I like where they are. They might of won a game or two at the Pink and White but could not of played with those top teams. Playing up will make you better to a degree but only if you can make it competitive. IMO Nixa beating Blue Eye by 50 did not help Blue Eye get any better.

I don't think they would have played a team like that unless they reached the semis.

Looks like Miller came back and won by 5.

Miller missed a ton of layups. They missed 13 free throws. Helton picked up 2 fouls on charges and sit most of the first half. They went to a half court trap at the start of the 4th quarter and started forcing turnovers. Hadlock took over as well. I think she had 27 of their 39 points. They out scored Spart 18-3 in the 4th quarter. If they play like that next game against Strafford they will get smoked.

Looked like they had everyone to me. I have only saw them play 4 times though. Their guards just turn the ball over to much.

I thought Miller's fan could get pretty bad but the Sparta fans were as bad as I have seen in awhile. It was almost comical listening to them. The camera caught it all. I didn't notice it as much at the game but watching again today on their Facebook Page heard it all.
