I don’t get it. 3/4 arm slot to relieve pressure on the elbow. 88MPH cheese. This is almost comical.

Terrible! Flaherty is wasting away in Memphis as it takes Waino 25+ pitches to get through 1. Makes you wonder if the Birds are willing to give up on any of their high paid players that are not producing. Can't win games by sticking with these guys. We'll be in the bullpen by the 3rd inning and who knows how many runs down. You can't tell me that the Cardinals advance scouts recommended Waino was ready for prime time

Not going to matter with Koufax on the mound for the Padres!

He really should just retire and stop embarrassing himself

However, I welcome more starts from him....for obvious reasons

The team should be embarrassed to have activated him for that appearance. They let down the other 24 guys on the roster by giving him the ball today. There’s no excuse for him pitching this game at that velocity with that arm slot. He’s hurt or toast.

He said after that appearance that his arm was hurting before the first pitch. How do you let him go then? A severe failure of management here.

We pick on matheny a lot - and it was insane he left him in that long - but there’s so much more blame to go around on this one than just some fingers pointed at him. His fastball was in the low to mid 80s. Absurd. No way he looked good before today.

Waino said afterwards HE knew he aggravated the elbow on the 3 to last pitch in the pen and it hurt more than in Chicago but did NOT tell anybody. That is NOT helping your team! They say he'll be evaluated and may miss his next start. WHAT THE :eek::eek::mad::mad::mad:???

If they finish 1 game out of the playoffs we can look back at this day to the cause. My lord how many people made just an amazing terrible decision. MO, MM, Waino, Maddux, advanced scouts, Girsch and the list goes on and on. Wong really looked good on that last AB. Never took the bat off his shoulder Oh well a k is just another out.

Maybe next start is an all encompassing comment, as in there is no next start.

They didn't say anything like that. Maybe Waino will take the pressure off and decide he can't be fixed anymore.

And cost himself millions? No way bro.
At least this is it for Waino. What the hell can they do with Fowler? They probably have 5 outfielders who are better than him right now. 3 more years. Nightmare.

Good to see you still remember how to post Ducky!

Bader has to play for a week or so, just to see. I have a feeling he's ready. Lord knows he can hit more than .150.

Sounds like from Waino's post game comments, he realizes he's done. I don't expect him to take the mound in a start unless it's an emergency situation...When Reyes comes back, there are six starters better than him. CMart, Mikolas, Wacha, Weaver, Flaherty, and Reyes. An argument could be made for Gomber. Unless two of those top six get injured, I think he's done. HOWEVER, I'd love to see him pull an Andy Benes and spend some time in the minors and try to reinvent himself in some fashion. Maybe learn a new pitch and see if he can get some folks out.
