No details yet but he will be back fro his 16th season as aCardinal. We can only hope he can be at least as good as he was this season. I'd say ensures they will NOT go for anything like a big free agent pitcher, not that I thought they would anyway.

$5 M guaranteed + $5 M of incentives (presumably, games/starts/innings)

Fair deal.

This team needs another one on top...I'm 100% in on this team bidding on Cole.

They might bid but they won't bid enough.
Agreed. Doubt they're even close. And given Cole's antics immediately after the series, I'm good with not giving that dude a key the safe in Dewitt's office. What a tool...I'm cool with CMart returning to the rotation for the #5 spot. Helsley starts as the closer maybe. Should be able to piece together a pen between the holdovers and Gomber/Reyes/whoever else returns from injury. Go out and get Donaldson and an OF'er. Purge the roster of bad contracts. Give Marp and Fowler away and pay whatever you need to do to get it done.

From what I read it doesn't sound like they are in the market for any outfielders. Seems like they plan to lose Ozuna and go with what they have with an eye toward even younger guys, or at least one, coming up to move in as soon as possible.

I think it's posturing. There's no way they're content with Fowler/Bader/O'Neill/JMart/Carlson/Thomas/Arozarena. Especially if Marp really is going to play 3B. That's a recipe for disaster. Or at the very least, about 80 wins. There are seven OF'ers on that list pretty much major league caliber. I'd really have zero issue with them keeping Marp as a UT guy (huge contract for it, but whatever), keeping JMart as RH pop off bench, but you've got to use some of the OF depth and probably pitching depth to get a replacement for Ozuna's bat. They need a middle of the order bat to play the OF. Or at least a bat they can put in the middle of the order that plays solid defense too. A Brantley type would be ideal probably. And an everyday 3B, whether it be Donaldson or Moose. I suppose you can adjust that depending on what you can acquire for the OF.

Edman can be the 3rd baseman if they'll let him but I'm bettin they will like using him in relief of anybody that needs relief again.

Here at Springfield, Edman was a SS and DeJong was at 3rd. Edman went from 2nd to 3rd to SS from game to game but appeared the most comfortable at SS.

Adolis Garcia was probably the best defensive LF but his power didn't come around until very late in his last season here.
