First, I want to point out that a few years back NM unequivocally stated that Verlander was done and would never come near his previous performance level........hehehe.

Next, anyone think he is drinking some Roger Clemens/Jose Canseco milkshakes?

Someone from the Indians (I think) came out and said he thinks they are doing something......odd

Verlander, Charlie Morton and now Cole. Granted Cole was always supposed to be this guy

Cole just had filthy stuff with the Bucos. But never seemed all that interested. When he focuses up, my goodness.

I think it's pretty clear that being married to Kate Upton is keeping him young...

He's got to drink those C/C milkshakes to keep up with Kate... ;)
Well worth the suspension if he's caught too! But when they're used for a different type of performance, are they still considered PEDs???

He'd have a pretty good excuse in saying he isn't using them to help his baseball performance.
Ain't that the truth!

Verlander looked really done in 2014 throwing 92. He's back to throwing 94-95 again. Most guys don't recover from velocity declines like that. He did. Kudos to the medical or coaching staff that fixed him. For every Verlander, though, there's a host of Matt Morrises and Adam Wainwrights.

Verlander had already bounced back before the trade. He's super hot to start the year, but it's not like he went from a #3 to a #1 during the 2017-2018 offseason.

Keuchel and McCullers had some great years there, too. What a staff. Something sure seems to be going right there over and over again.

He had bounced back

Not a 1 ERA, looking at breaking the K% bounce back though. He's absolutely dominating everyone who steps up to the plate

xFIP is 0.3 runs where it was in 2016. .205 BABIP, 90%+ strand rate, and <5% FB/HR rate aren't remotely sustainable - especially for a guy who has one of the lowest groundball rates in baseball. That's an awesome pitcher even after the luck trends back to normal, to be sure, but it's a little hard to give the Astros credit for something right now when he's basically just continuing his 2016-2017 recovery.

Whereas you can give them all the credit in the world for Cole and others. It's just not clear from the results or the pitch mix that they did something other than trade for a very good pitcher who has had a hot 70 innings YTD.
