Hard to say that wasn't a disappointing showing. I really thought it would be a good game , I couldn't have been more wrong. It was over 5 minutes into the game. Good Luck to Class 1 in stopping Valle. Mr. Naeger and Nathan have that offense on point.

Valle dominated the line of scrimmage. Ste. Gen. did have success running outside at times. But it's hard to maintain that threat if you get little push inside.

And with that said its only the second game of the year. Coach Weik and Weiller will get them straightened out. I wouldn't want to be in this weeks practice.

If they played by the same rules as every else in class one there would be a lot teams that could beat them, but unfortunately you are right, it's a race for second in class one. Sad but true.

Is that you Veer? I can't speak for all of the Valle kids but the vast majority of them had parents that went to Valle. Guess if you can't beat them you whine about a advantage they might have. Huge population of kids they get to choose from huh? What would Ste. Gen. be if Valle closed down? Maybe Class 4? The talent comes and goes. Nobody was complaining when Ste. Gen. was beating the tar out of Valle for 10 or so years. Did the recruiting suck those years?

Ste. Gen. just needs to up their recruiting game, then class 1 will be back to fighting amongst themselves.

Could this be the year a southwest Missouri team finally slays the giant. Marionville, Lockwood and Skyline all have a chance. Skyline appears to be the best of these three. Speed, speed and more speed. Lockwood may have the best fullback and tailback combo in class 1. However, valle always seems to have the hawgs up front with a great coaching staff and a Webb City like mental edge.

Marionville and Lockwood will first have to worry about Thayer out of the SCA (who just dismantled Class 2 #3 ranked Strafford last night 44-16).

I believe that several times in the last ten years or so Thayer has actually had the second best team in Class 1 (only to lose to Class 1 buzz saw Valle early in the playoffs)

Kennys thoughts..all veer..all the time.

Maybe it's you not me :(

Thayer made it to the dome in 07 and 08 but couldn't beat Orrick when they were on their run.

I thought Marionville had the "hawgs" to compete and a special talent at QB too. They will have to be MUCH crisper though. The pass plays are way too slow in the air and the defense will have to be more precise. Playing in the Mid-Lakes will help with those.

Lockwood will have to be MUCH improved over last year. The defense was pretty weak and the offense was too run oriented. Valle would eat them alive.

Skyline looks to be the team with a real shot. Speed is a must to beat Valle. Quick developing plays of substance and balance on offense are required too. If they have enough up front, they seem the most likely to me.

Thayer may be the cats meow but Strafford isn't what they were last year. They lost 17 seniors.

All that said......Valle wins again and it won't be close.

Problem Lockwood will have is they will be undefeated at the end of the regular season and still not played a team that even remotely resembles a quality football team (this year). That isn't really completely their fault(who would have dreamed Rich Hill would be THAT bad?) but their fanatics calling this the best team in the SRVC history should probably get drug tested...review some old film...or go watch some other teams play.

Skyline is FAST. You either have speed or you're chasing it.
Marionville will be a tough out IMO.

Marionville already has their eyes set on Valle if you look at the pre-season interviews with Coach LaSalle. I think they'd be lucky if they get to see Valle this year. Southwest looks good this year. Skyline and Thayer look like top teams to compete with Valle.

I guess that was in the last ten years, wasn't it (gosh, seems like it's been longer than that); I was thinking more like 2011 when Thayer put up more points against Valle than any other Class 1 school, but 07 & 08 do an even better job of proving my point about Thayer's tenor over the last decade

Between Thayer, Marionville, and Lockwood, Class 1 District 2 is shaking out to be a tough one!

Sorry, you spent the last 10 years complaining about a team on the other side of the state that you know nothing about other than their uniform colors and that it's a catholic institution.

One of the top class 3 programs in the state struggles to compete with a class 1 team. Can you tell me why? Thanks in advance.

I'd go out on a limb and say it's only going to get worse for the public school since Valle has it rolling now.

I tell you what, you drive yourself down next year and ill introduce you to every parent of the starters for Valle. Then I'll let you ask them where they went to high school.

I promise I won't let any of them hurt you.

After all the nice things he has said about Valle and their fans the past 10 yrs, I'm sure he doesn't have to worry about his safety!

Just a quick look at Valle's roster I can name 10 players who had 1 or both went to SG

Take a quick look at SG's roster while you're at it, any chance any of their parents went to Valle? I can think of several, its a small town! Nice try troll

So you can't answer the question?

Thanks.

If one parent went to Valle then why are you surprised their kid does?
Who cares. Valle is good year in and year out. The kids work extremely hard. They have been beatable, but just have had the luck to win. That luck comes from the hours the coaches and kids put in. We have played them a few times in the play-offs and they are great kids and great coaches who do things the right way. End of story. Keep up the good work Valle.

But the public school team in the same town doesn't put in the time and hours?
Kenny?

Where do you coach? Why can't you win any games? Why did Ste. Gen beat Valle in dominant fashion 10 or so years in a row? Bobby?

I like this conversation nobody out works the other in high school football. Every school does 7 on 7, lifts weights and works hard . I have coached high school football for 27 years. Simple truth once you get it
rolling the kids will play in large numbers and if you don't the kids don't come out. Valle doesn't out work anybody they just have a super dedicated group of kids who work hard and don't let other things get in the way. Most schools have kids that would rather work and do other things than spend hours at a game. But every school has a group that puts in many hours, valle just has more and the game of football is important to the school and they get every kid out that can play. That is great but not why you have a school is to have great sports. When the season is over every school collects uniforms and kids move on
to much more important things like why they are there to be educated. If valle beats St, Gen 50 years
in a row who cares is doesn't matter to the effectiveness of the school education,. It is high school
football and nothing more, I coach to help young men be better people not to worry about who they beat
that is the parents worry. 30 minutes after the game the players are more worried about other things not
who lost. You guys put way to much importance on score board, what matters is what is being taught. Great valle is good but who cares every school has a much bigger task then winning football games that mean nothing to a kids educational future.

Where did you coach?

You tell us.

Does valle outwork SG?

As of recently YES. SG doesn't lack the talent or coaching. That would be about the most honest answer I can give you. Anybody that lives in the community would be lying if they told you that wasn't the case.

They have a fantastic weighlifting program at Valle. Something SG was until recently, slightly behind. I've heard nothing but great things about Coach Weik's offseason training regimen. It's still up to the kids to participate.

You seem to start every post with, "I have coached for 27 years...."

I said they work extremely hard.. When you do that, combined with a great system that is in place, the luck tends to favor you! That is exactly the case with Valle. Nowhere did I say they outwork anyone. Give them credit. Quit whining about them recruiting. Send your complaints to MSHSAA if you have them. It is the same thing with Blair Oaks and other place close to bigger schools. Would you rather be 2/3rd string guys or go to a smaller school and start? There may or may not be recruiting. WHO CARES.. Like I said, we have played them deep in the play offs and they have always been class kids and coaches.

I started my career at Chaffee high school for 3 years, went to Gainesville for 3 years entering
my 23rd season at Orchard Farm this year. Older I have gotten as a football coach I realize the values
taught is what kids remember not the winning and losing. I see many x players rather their team was good or not they always say the enjoyment was in having friends on the team and playing for a team.
I super respect great programs that produce great teams but also respect programs that don't win but play with great heart, sportsmanship and class. Some schools keep sports in a low importance and winning is secondary and other schools expect good teams at the end of the day it is high school athletics where coaches are paid very little kids have a ton of other things to worry about and enjoying
the experience of football is what is important.
