USA Today article on Webb City Football program

Glendale, AR hasn't been the same power to be reckoned with since their forced co-op with nearby Rooster Poop, AR. They just plain stink nowadays

Pretty good article, though I wonder, why does every outside story or opinion about WC football always seem to include the angle that it's a gritty, poverty stricken town that succeeds at football because of a blue collar work ethic and a lack of anything else to care about? I agree, it's not the most beautiful town, especially the parts that most visitors see, but couldn't the same description be used appropriately on just about EVERY town in the region? I'm genuinely curious, is WC really that unappealing to outsiders or it is just something negative to counter their success in football?

I heard you guys let Rockhurst keep some of your lesser players to keep you out of class 6.

I was at the Webb Rockhurst game and this actually happened! Webb players moved over to Rockhurst side and this helped to keep the game closer the last two quarters.

Great article I wouldn't know where webb city is in Mo. But the article is great and what makes it great it is about the kids get an education. Who cares how many football games you win if the young men are not getting a quality education, it is not on your resume . But it sounds like the school has its priorities in order and the coaches. That makes having a great football program
worth while. I love the part where they tell the kids if winning a championship is the best part of your life we have failed you. That is awesome winning and losing high school athletic events in no way should shape a person for life working hard at something is the Life value and if it is something as small as football then great, then the program is got its priorities right. Sounds like the school is very good in what matters academics. There are numerous schools that athletics is just something to do and their academics is awesome and the kids study before games. Just super impressed with a school that can have success in a sport but realize that is not why young men attend school.

The neighborhood that people drive through to get to the stadium from the highway looks kind of blighted. But no more than a lot of towns in Missouri. A lot of people in the KC area are out of touch, because they live in McMansions in suburbia..and avoid the blighted or lower income parts of the city--like they don't exist. Unless they go to play a game in the inner city. Most of KC is filled with smug judgmental jerks that make a big deal out of social status. But Webb reminds everyone that excellence doesn't necessarily come from the people with the silver spoons...but to those with the golden willpower. It was a good thing that Webb schooled Rockhurst the past two years. Its like the movie Meatballs...Camp Tomahawk always wins, and always gets the girls, cuz they've got all the money. Not so fast...I think some Cardinals have something to say about that.
