The Metro Conference appears to be top conference in Missouri. We may have St. University High playing Chaminade in the class 5 finals.

St. Louis Metro Catholic Conference standing.

1. Chaminade------24-3--------------League record------8-0
2. CBC---------------19-8-----------------------------------------6-2
3. SLUH-------------19-11---------------------------------------4-4
4. Vianney----------17-12---------------------------------------1-7
5. DeSmet----------10-17---------------------------------------1-7

Could happen but probably less than a 50-50 chance.

Of course, they could also meet in the third-place game.

It's not going to get easier for MCC opponents next year, assuming all the underclassmen return. At least 2 or three of the teams, including Chaminade, should be better.

Got to love those PRIVATE SCHOOLS!!
You sure do! Whether it's private or public, there's 5 athletes on the floor. May the best team win!

mj1224 can you honestly tell me you don't think it's an advantage for private schools to be able to take kids that are not in a normal geographic district like public schools do? They don't even have to cheat, they can get kids legally that would normally be at another school. If they get THE best player from two other schools close to them they get a lot better and the other schools get a lot worse, especially if they're small schools. Then those schools might even be in their conference or district.

I don't call it an advantage...I call it a choice. It's a choice based on many factors...finances, quality of education, scholarship opportunites, religion, environment, etc. Each choice is specific to the family making the decision. Do you want to take that choice away from families all over the state?

I see you didn't mention sports. It IS a disadvantage for the school whose players leave and make the private school team better while making their public school team worse. I'm sure many of them go to private schools for religious reasons as much or more than sports reasons. That does not take away the issue it causes in sports for the public school that has to play with the kids in their district, minus the ones that left for a private school. Yes some kids transfer from one public school to another for athletic reasons. We all know they are breaking the rules whether they are punished for it or not. At the private schools it's not even against the rules, it's legal and that's fine. Just don't act like there is no advantage in not having a district boundary to go by. As for quality of education if private schools had to take all comers like public schools do I doubt very seriously that the quality of their education would be any better than most public schools.

I don't have an issue with the players, coaches or parents of kids at private schools. They are going by the rules as they exist. 3 Rivers has tried to recruit several players from Cape ND for basketball and softball and actually signed some of them. More for softball than basketball. Those same kids would have been recruited if they had been at Cape Central, Jackson, Scott City, Sikeston or Kelly Benton. The difference is those schools would have benefited from having those same players on their teams.
