Trinity Question

Finally got around to watching the Trinity and Lutheran North game. Can anyone tell me why Trinity was allowed to play #99 at right guard all night, and apparently all season after talking to a few people who have seen other games. Did they change something recently in the rule book about having 5 lineman numbers on the field or are there certain circumstances where that doesn't apply? Seems unbalanced left, guard eligible would be a tough play to game plan for .

I could be wrong, but I believe that if you go to the officials before the game and give them the numbers of who will be playing on the offensive line at times with a non lineman number, I think it's legal but they have to make the officials aware so they know that the number can't go downfield.

Again, I could be wrong, but I recall a similar situation over 10 years ago.

Can anyone confirm this rule and if there are any exceptions?
