Finally got around to watching the Trinity and Lutheran North game. Can anyone tell me why Trinity was allowed to play #99 at right guard all night, and apparently all season after talking to a few people who have seen other games. Did they change something recently in the rule book about having 5 lineman numbers on the field or are there certain circumstances where that doesn't apply? Seems unbalanced left, guard eligible would be a tough play to game plan for :D.

I could be wrong, but I believe that if you go to the officials before the game and give them the numbers of who will be playing on the offensive line at times with a non lineman number, I think it's legal but they have to make the officials aware so they know that the number can't go downfield.

Again, I could be wrong, but I recall a similar situation over 10 years ago.

Can anyone confirm this rule and if there are any exceptions?

Wow, shocked to see Trinity doesn't go by the same rules as everyone else...
