Rumors are starting to swirl that Warsaw is trying to leave the Tri-County conference. Has anyone else heard about this:

IMHO, if Warsaw leaves the conference, the best replacements would be

1.) Father Tolton: They're in the area and they are independent.
2.) South Callaway: Good addition in terms of competition, but we wouldn't be able to get them without North Callaway
3.) Cole Camp: It could make a more natural rival for Versailles, the only team in the TCC without a true rival (Blair Oaks-California, Osage-Eldon, SBC-Hallsville)

First time I have ever head Versailles doesn't have a true rival in the Tri-County Conference. Guess all of those old Versailles/Eldon or Versailles/California games from the past don't mean anything.

Versailles, Eldon, California, Tipton were the base and founders of the conference. Then Camdenton and Osage were added. Football started in 1959. Iberia, Boonville, and Windsor played in the conference in the late 60s and early 70s. Blair Oaks joined in the mid 70s. Warsaw in 1980. Camdenton got the boot in the early 80s. Then Tipton left in 2000. Of course the recent additions of Southern Boone and Hallsville. Southern Boone received all 6 votes yes in the vote, Hallsville got in by a 4-2 vote. Shifting east ward and towards the Capitol City is the conference. I doubt they replace Warsaw this time anyways. I can see why Warsaw is leaving, the league has gone from a Lake of the Ozarks centric league to a Jefferson City centric league.

North Callaway meets the enrollment guidelines and has all the sports. Geographically they are not though. South Callaway doesn't have all the sports and barely meets the enrollment requirements. Cole Camp barely above the enrollment as well. But if you want to add Cole Camp, then Warsaw isn't leaving more than likely. Tolton Catholic doesn't meet the enrollment requirements. I think a private school would be looked down on as well, the Tri-County never has had a private school in the conference. Russellville doesn't have the enrollment yet either with their football time table. Fatima is the school that would be the slam dunk addition if they had football. Enrollment, location, and the right mix of sports sans the one sport they need.

I have heard that Warsaw asked to get back into the Kaysinger Conference but don't think they were wanted. I don't see Cole Camp joining the Tri-County. Don't think they would match very well in football.

Hey Bears, I appreciate your knowledge of the history of the tri-county conference. Do you know what year the conference was formed? Also, do you know whether they ever had any non-football schools in the conference?

You make a decent point, because Cole Camp has only had football for 9 years, but they've shown that they can be pretty competitive. Warsaw would be a much better fit for the Kaysinger Conference geographically. They would just be a bigger school than everyone else.

I feel like every year, someone says Warsaw's leaving the TCC, but I've heard that they're actually getting serious about it. A 2.5 hour bus ride for a conference opponent would get really old after a while.

Having played in the Tri-County, EVERYONE is a rival in that conference!

Warsaw has tried to get back into the Kaysinger. Makes sense for Kaysinger to take them back. But they have not. They do not have enough football schools for a conference championship even. Sacred Heart and Lincoln probably do not want Warsaw in the Kaysinger.

1932. Since football was added in 1959 no non-football schools to my knowledge as football is one of the required sports. I believe Stover was part of the conference at one time prior to 1959, but don't quote me on that one.

Warsaw looking south this time with the Mid-Lakes Conference.

Centralia has my vote! I am a coach in the conference and they would be great addition!!!!

Warsaw has been looking to the Mid-Lakes for many years. And I agree with the post above having coached in the Tri-County for 7 years during my career...everyone is a rival of everyone, it is a GREAT conference, competitive teams, facilities, and coaches.

Just curious whats Warsaw main reason for the Mid-Lakes Conference? I doubt travel would be much different other than 65 is a better road.

Wonder if mid lakes will add eldo and warsaw among others and have a north and south division.
Did pierce city make a decision on joining mlc?

I just checked, Warsaw's farthest drive would be to Marionville (1:58), but their shortest drive would be to Skyline HS in Urbana (29 minutes). Compare that to their shortest drive in the Tri-County, Versailles (50 minutes).

Centralia would be a good addition, but they aren't exactly close to the area. It would be about 2 hours to go from Osage to Centralia. Good idea though, because the Clarence Cannon makes no geographical sense and has way too many teams IMHO. I think if Centralia keeps growing, they should join the NCMC. That would continue a good rivalry with Centralia and Mexico.

I played for Versailles a long time ago. Our rivals were California and Camdenton. Of course Camdenton grew a little too big and since left the conference.
I never really thought Versailles and California would be rivals. No offense, but they seem so irrelevant as rivals lately in the conference's flagship sport, and I don't really feel like there's much fire in that matchup anymore. Crazy how much changes over time. That's why I appreciate the old California-Blair Oaks, Southern Boone-Hallsville, and Eldon-Osage rivalries that have lasted over time and are always intense regardless of records.

Centralia will not leave the CCC for the TCC. I agree that the NCMC would make more sense for them than the TCC, but I think they are still a bit too small right now.

I thought Warsaw was still in the Kaysinger in the 1990s, when they got too big. Probably until 1992-93.

Unless they played as a football only member, they were still playing Kaysinger basketball until the 90s.
