The schedules were so screwed up this summer and with school ball bleeding into July and travel ball trying to play catch up. Curious if there was more conflicts with travel and school ball or not really?

There were this past week when a lot of the players went to Indianapolis to play, but generally, the travel ball tournaments are on the weekends while the school stuff happens during the week. Not always of course but that's been the norm.

which benefits the players development more: AAu unorganized chaos against better other unorganized teams or going to the Nixa shootout with your HS team and running and executing plays and defensive strategies due to playing familiar opponenets?

Depends on who is coaching the summer team and who is coaching the the high school team. I have seen high school coaches whose teams play unorganized and look like chaos

This wasn’t the direction I had intended for this post, but I’ll bite. I agree a lot with Comeagle on who the coaches are and situations. I’ve been on both sides as the school coach and the AAU coach. There can be a lot of positives and negatives on both sides.

The main reason I started the thread was I remembered a lot of the July events in the past were during the week due to the weird ncaa recruiting calendar. Play a tournament Sunday-Tuesday and turn around to play Thursday-Saturday somewhere else. Figured that would create more conflicts with schedules smashed together.

Yes I heard Rolla was missing a good guard to travel ball at the Bolivar Shootout. So was Strafford.

I have seen some Conflicts where the players had to choose which team to play for. That is tough for high school players. I think it puts the most pressure on the younger girls trying to earn a varsity spot. There seems to be lots of mixed emotions on which they should put emphasis on. Others are making both but playing 5 and 6 days a weak? Hopefully this is the only year we have to endure these circumstances? But I am happy to be in gyms watching ball again. Hoping we play this year:)

In a normal year there shouldn’t be any problems between the two. “Shouldn’t” being the keyword.

I'm sure no one cares but I have seen a few schools where there winter sports teams went to something and brought back the covid and screwed up a fall sport.

Check the news. It's all around. If people are not smart we will not have a fall season let alone winter or spring.
