has signed to play at SEMO. She is from Bradenton, Fla. and made her way to Three Rivers via a coaching connection. She was a track star in HS and didn't play basketball until her Jr. year. She is 5'10" forward and is just figuring out how good she can be in basketball and is a phenomenal athlete. Hope it goes well for her at SEMO.

When I saw your title, I thought maybe Latrell was in the news again....
You made me look to see if I put this on boys thread. :p
I haven't heard anything about him in quite some time except when the 3R hall of fame picks were being debated. Maybe you don't get talked about much if you're poor after making lots of money.

Sprewell should be the first individual men's player inducted....probably followed by Adebayo and McCrary.....then it gets really difficult with DFoster, McClinton, Peck-Love, Ford, etc.....

Foster's jersey was retired a long time ago. He held the scoring record until Sprewell broke it many years later. If there had been a 3 point line back then his record would be unbreakable. Sprewell didn't break it by hitting 3's but Fosters record would be sky high if his bombs counted for 3. I think Sprewell only hit 17 3's at 3R so record is legit fro sure. I get that Sprewell went on do bigger things but this a Three Rivers Hall of Fame so what you did at 3R has to carry a lot of weight. If we only looked at things beyond 3R to decide who gets in the girls would a have tough time ever getting anybody in no matter how good they were here. I like Ford a lot but I can't see him being the conversation. McFerren will have to be up there somewhere. He was a tough defender and he 'averaged' over 8 assists per game for his two years. Moon McCrary will be there sometime. He was our best defender at the time and is still #3 on the all time scoring list. There will be many interesting conversations over the next several years about who should be next up in all sports. One fo the conversations is about whether or not you can get in if you only played one year at 3R. That's a tough one because Otto Porter only played one year. A lot to consider with these picks in all sports.

Nobody could shoot it like Danny..... I used to watch him stand at halfcourt at New Mark Twain(about 30') and swish shot after shot after shot....He would hardly move because the backspin would usually send the ball right back to him.

Folks were discussing him on SEMOBall one time. A guy said he watched him in high school make 29 in a row from out of bounds on the sideline. He said Danny didn't miss the 30th attempt......He just said he was tired and wanted to leave. He had just finished a game....

I think Latrell's dominance his sophomore year speaks loudly for his contributions at 3R.

They could induct two pairs of players as a duo, IMO. Otto/Danny and Booker/Donnie pretty much carried their respective teams to some lofty heights.

I agree but all you hear about is where played after 3R. They could induct two pairs of players as a duo, IMO. Otto/Danny and Booker/Donnie pretty much carried their respective teams to some lofty heights.
I don't see more than one at a time from the same sport going in because of the number of sports. We haven't had VB for a long time but I'm sure there are some deserving players from that sport too. They're still trying figure the guidelines for it. This first year was pretty cut and dried except they left off a softball pitcher whose jersey is retired too, the only one in that sport. They will need to put the '92 Championship team in pretty soon. We're so far behind on this that those guys are getting old now too and one from that team passed away at an early age.

Yeah....'92 team is the most obvious choice for the next selection.

How about Sylvester James?

And as far as Danny Foster...still can't figure out why he did not play in the NBA.

Seriously.....best offensive player I have ever watched live...and I have seen a couple of NBA Hall of Famers.

Pretty sure he didn't even stay in college.

They won't put in a team for another year or two is what I was told. It's kind of expensive when you have that many all at once. I was told the school and booster club are splitting the costs. I look for Chuck Malone to go in next for baseball, his jersey has been retired for a long time, for some reason Palmer's has not. Men's basketball will be up for grabs with Sprewell having the inside track, next up for women's basketball probably should be Missy Whitney from Charleston.

I know Gene Bartow recruited him to play at UAB. Not sure if he ever set foot in B'ham, but he went to SEMO briefly and got homesick.

I heard talk around 1984 that the Bucks had offered him a short term contract late in the season, presumably to be a limited minutes sniper....

This could be true...I am not sure of the year, but I have a friend who played town team ball with him, and not sure exactly what year it was, but Foster got in tip top shape and the rumor was that some NBA team was going to give him a shot..............and then he had a knee injury right before he went for the tryouts.

Not sure it was true...but the person who told me is not one to make up stuff..so I kind of believe there was some truth to it.
