This needs to happen a lot more

I would say that being patriotic and a patriot is dependent on the system holding strong and true to the core values and mores of the American principles of old.

Any straying from that hardline and you will get a push back, from a large segment of the populace.

In other words, our values and mores should be the same as they were in 1787? They didn't even fully agree in 1787 what those values and mores were, but they compromised, as civilized people in a civilized nation should.

I think I get it now. You're Amish, aren't you?! Except that even the Amish have modernized to some degree.

I never said all Mores,Norms and Values..I specifically said the CORE VALUES and MORES. You seem to be going full tilt from point A to Z.

And clearly as you can tell that a huge Culture war is going on now! So unless 74 million people are Amish I’m not outside the Norm for a huge segment of the populace.
And while compromise is good some principles shouldn’t be bent or twisted.

I also didn't say (or imply) all. Cool straw man fallacy, though. Also bent and twisted are a nice (and quite transparent) rhetorical touch for the word changed.

Quick question though: which values and mores are the core values and mores that shouldn't be changed? The ones you think shouldn't be changed? Even the founders didn't totally agree on what those were, as evidenced in the notes at the Constitutional Convention, their letters, their correspondences, and their writings afterward.
