even though sitting at #10 since the first poll came out, can still get into the CFP with a couple of wins, a little help from other teams and the love of the committee. So that means they only have to accomplish two of those three ... the committee has always loved them. They’ll bend over backwards to get THE Ohio State into the final four. But at least this year they could be a conference division winner as well as a conference championship game winner ... unlike other years when committee love carried them.

They lost by 29 to Purdue. They had to go to OT to beat a Maryland program currently in complete disarray. Eliminated.

If they are in, it is a travesty.

I know, I know ... still wouldn’t surprise me. I’m not rooting for them, but didn’t they get in last year without even winning their division of the Big 10 and not even playing in conference championship game? Committee loves ‘em.
Look at who lies between them and current top 4. If they beat Michigan today and then Northwestern ...

If Oklahoma beats Texas next week they would have zero chance of getting in. Although Oklahoma is every bit as flawed as Ohio state.

More flawed on defense but Oklahoma is much better on offense. Plus Oklahoma’s only loss would be in OT to the team they just beat in a rematch.

Honestly though this year neither team would hold up vs Bama in a semifinal. Ohio St would have a hard time scoring more than 10 and Oklahoma would have a hard time keeping Bama under 60.

We’ll revisit this after rankings come out Tuesday evening.

THE Ohio State, #6 now. If Georgia loses to Alabama and Ohio St. downs Northwestern, the committee love will move them past Oklahoma and into a playoff spot. Just wait and see. Still hoping I’m wrong, but love conquers all ... even a 29 point loss to Purdue.

OK will have to lose for OSU to get in.

That would make sense, but the committee doesn’t always make sense. Remember a few years back when TCU won their last regular season game, 56-3 and dropped from 3 to 6 one week later? That was pre-conference championship game for Big 12. Whose committee love bumped them into playoff? That’s right ... THE Ohio State. Sickening then and still is now.

Then they got trashed in the playoff.

It may depend on style points. If OU wins by 3, while #ohhowihateohiostate wins by 30, the buckeyes may just get in.

A win over Northwestern by 30 is meaningless. Northwestern lost at home to Akron.

If your a Mizzou fan and want to see them get a better bowl this year, watch the SC / Akron game on Saturday. If lightening strikes twice for Akron and they beat SC. Those gamecocks will miss out on Taxslayer giving Mizzou a better chance at getting it.

I'd be happy with the four undefeateds - bama Clemson notre dame and UCF. It won't happen of course. But if UCF wins Saturday for something like a 25-game winning streak I'd rather see them have their long shot against Bama than one of these others mentioned earlier in this thread.

The hype would be tremendous. The game, not so much.

UCF QB is out for the year bruh.

Seriously? What did he do, break his leg or something?

If Alabama loses their QB, are they no longer one of the best teams?

Sorry, I just like the Cinderella magic we see in college sports every March. And besides, when UCF gets thumped, nobody in Florida is going to be buying their UCF national champs t-shirts.

Not only is he out, but it was severely injured. They have had a heckuva streak of winning. But they cant let a team missing their QB play Bama.

Ohio State up 24-7 at half. Georgia played Bama great, but lost. Oklahoma beats Texas but by less than 10. Stage is set. If Ohio State gets into playoff it is nothing but committee love.

They didn’t lose by 29 to a 500 team or get lucky against Maryland or have a defense almost as bad as Oklahoma’s

I’m hoping nothing changes after today, in terms of the four teams who are in. What I am saying is it wouldn’t surprise me if Ohio State gets in because the committee has proven in the past they love Meyer and the Buckeyes.

They give up 40pts to Kansas who scored what 150 point all year. They were also very fortunate to defeat a 500 team in Oklahoma St. They also went to overtime with Army who while pretty good isn’t going to the playoff anytime soon. Not to mention being one bad bounce away from losing at West Virginia. They could very easily be sitting on 3 loses. How many warts does Georgia have?

The quickest way to get to 8 is for everyone to turn the tv off during the playoffs and play poker or chess or whatever you like to play with

A 2-loss non conference champ isn’t going to get in over a power 5 conference champ unless they have a head-to-head win.

Northwestern is doing a good job of uglying up the game with Ohio St. Ohio St will probably win but it is anything but a blowout.

This is eliminating Ohio State. It will come down to Georgia and Oklahoma and it will be very close because of how close the Dogs played Bama today (honestly should have won).

Don’t be surprised if your disappointed tomorrow I think Georgia played their way in and probably even moved up to 3 with Notre Dame going down to 4

I am far from a ND fan but they are going to still be undefeated tomorrow and drop behind a team that just lost and has 2 losses. How does that work?

Didn’t say it was right but that splits up Bama and Georgia till a potential finals matchup
